New York City International Film Festival, LLC Reviews
Jun 26, 2014
I just want to add to the reports that are already on here. We had a film play at the 2014 New York City International Film Festival. The same complaints that are already being mentioned here seemed to manifest during their 2014 event, as well. Of note, our film's screening date was rescheduled three times. On the day of the premiere, our screening was literally cancelled, and moved, hours before screen time. One of the staffers at the festival told me that the fest hadn't paid the theaters a rental fee, which is why the theaters cancelled on the fest, leaving NYCIFF scrambling to find new theaters. The tickets we purchased for the first screening (the one that was cancelled) were not refunded, at all. I'm not going to sue the fest (I'm way too busy and I have bigger fish to fry) but.... I just want this to be a warning to other indie filmmakers. Do not apply to this fest. There are plenty of festivals in New York and Tribeca isn't the only game in town. If you play at the New York City International Film Festival, there is a decent chance that your film will be moved hours before screen time, or cancelled outright. You have been warned...
