I had a contract with this con artist did it online. quote of 2, 194 when I saw the movers i had an inkling it wan't going to work out. I had things at a storage unit and an aptt. I met him at storage unit, i was very sick, which later that night turned into avisit to ER. When they got to apt and almost had everrything almost loaded. he asked if washer an d dryer were going, of course they were. he told me to just leave them behind because that would make my estimate increase to $7, 000. I went balistic and told him no way, was i paying that. he rambled on about price. I asked him to call manager, Ben???, which he did, I then told him i wasn't paying and would call the POLICE, he told me he would do me one better he would call them and unload my truck, I told him to help himself to it. Of course the liars told me he would agree to price match of 2,999.
I was so tired and sick that I wrote him a check for 1, 500. When I got to where I was moving I started thinking of what all had gone on an d realized that I'd been screwed. I went to bank and stopped payment on check. So, when we talked on phone he wanted to kow why i had done that??? I told him he was dishonest and did not want to deal with him. He gave me a line and wanted me to put money into an electronic acct. for 4,000. I kinew if I did he would want more and more. I refused to do that and went to speak with atty he agreed with me and called dispatch to find out where my stuff was located and was told that if I WASN;T there by 10 am next morninng he would put my stuff onn street I By the grace of God I was able to get another mover. Ben,Dan or someone gave atty address, as soon as I pulled up Ben called to tell me he wasn't releasing stuff today because i had stopped payment on check i assured him that I would write him a check there, which he would not allow, this place had cardboard on window'n Mover on door and a sign that said furniture for less and had 2 ph #404-543-8888 and 678-900-7756 on door. My furniture is very high end around 70, 000 worh, my clothes , furniture, I paint so lot's painting supplies. Etc. I have never been so sick in my life. I am taking care of my PTSD son and it's a major full time job. I was trying to save money and ended up losing everything I own. I would love to see these people get what they deserve. This should happen to no one. These people are parasites and need to be held accountable for their actions. I hope this will save someone else from going through what I just went through.
I contacted Nationwide Moving & Storage mid March 2014 for a move late April 2014. Spoke to Martin was given a price for my itemized list for my move.
I contacted Nationwide Moving & Storage, emailed my itemized list of everything, they gave me a price of $1852.00 for my move, that included Nationwide packing glass and mirror items. I would pack the rest. I was told to have half the money as a deposit at pickup and the rest at delivery by money order or cash. I got a money gram money order from Walmart and I had half of the quoted price of $1852.00. On their contract it states that they would ship moving boxes for customers free of charge. I called Martin and was told that they couldn't provide me with boxes because I wasn't within a specific area near their warehouse in Florida. I was moving from Virginia to Nevada. I contacted Martin again about a week later to let Martin know that I had found another company that would move me at a less expensive rate and their contract says they will match any price. I was told that they couldn't do that. I had more questions about a week later and found Martin's phone number was disconnected. I emailed and got a response and was given a new phone number to his office. I signed the contract. About a week before my pickup date April 20/21, 2014 I contacted Martin via email & phone to advise I would not be taking few items on my itemized list. They were the (washer/dryer two bar stools and vacuum cleaner, but adding a dinette table with two chairs) and adding twenty more boxes. I asked what price would my move increase to. I was told by Martin to ask the driver when he arrived, that he would be fair and the cost wouldn't be that much for the changes. When the driver arrived April 20, 2014 he told me because I had the number of boxes that I had and they were different sizes he had to charge me $3790.00. I protested saying I wasn't taking the washer/dryer bar stools vacuum cleaner etc. that it should even out or if the price did go up, maybe a few hundred dollars but not to double the agreed upon price. I agreed to the price only because I had purchased a ticket from Virginia to Nevada, I called and the Airline said they would charge me $200.00 to make ANY changes to that ticket. It wasn't worth me trying to find another moving company at that late date. I had already been told by several moving companies that the closer it got to spring and summer their prices go up. Also my car was being picked up to be shipped April 21/22, 2014. I was stuck in a bind and I think Nationwide knows that and may make it a practice of increasing the price of the move after customers have made arrangements like I made for my move. I was given a pickup date of April 20/21, 2014 which did happen. I was given a delivery date of April 29,2014 through May 3, 2014 and told that I would be getting a phone call the day before delivery to confirm date. No one called May 3, 4, or 5th. I called and emailed the driver that picked up the furniture, never got a response, that was a weekend. Monday I called the office and was contacted approximately a day or two later. I asked where my furniture was and was told that it was in a storage facility on the east coast. I asked what storage facility, where and what address. I was told in New Jersey and given and some address. I asked why it was taken to a storage facility and was told because they didn't receive the half deposit down of the new price $3790.00 by the driver who picked up the furniture in Virginia so they took it to a storage facility until the next truck coming to the west coast. My furniture was finally delivered May 9, 2014. When the driver arrived I had a Money Gram money order the same as I had given the driver in Virginia for the balance that was due. The driver said he had to call dispatch, he did and then told me that he couldn't accept that kind of money order, it had to be a USPS money order or cash. Dispatch told him not to unload his truck but take my furniture to a local storage facility. I called the Police, they came and asked the driver to wait, he did, I paid by USPS, got delivery. I want a refund.
