Mitch Steker, owner of Nationwide Commercial Relief, was engaged by another cohort of his (who I may also report if he doesn't make good on his promise to repay what he owes me) to finance an acquisition my company was undertaking. It was made very clear to Mr. Steker what we could afford and what we wouldn't. We constantly had to badger him to get any information on what he was doing and would go weeks without hearing from him. He also demanded a substantial upfront fee for his services (which we later found out was against the law in Florida).
When we finally got an answer out of him that included actual details, the financing was SO expensive there was no way anyone could have afforded it. When he was told this, he started bringing in other people who also wanted fees up front supposedly to find ways to make it affordable. When those numbers cambe back, it was even worse. Basically, he seems to specialize in scams to take upfront fees for financing he can either never deliver, or he knows no one can afford in order to ensure he gets to keep the fees. Every bit of my dealings with him was a scam. Even if I could have afforded the financing packages he claimed to have put together, the additional upfront fees for those packages were more than the interest should have been on the whole deal. Basically again, all a scam.
As a result of his lack of responsiveness and crazy financing games and scams, the deal fell apart. We lost substantial money as did the seller of the other business. It substantially hurt both of our businesses and Mr. Steker simply went dark and kept all the fees. Almost a year later we received a call about both Mr. Stekers company and another company that was involved in the process from the Florida Office of Financial Regulation. They went after Mr. Steker both personally and corporately and against the other company and received guilty verdicts against them both. Both were required to pay substantial fines to the state of Florida.
I have contacted both with certified letterd demanding restitution since already having been found guilting it won't be hard to win if I have to go to court against them. The other entity has said they will refund my fees and I am waiting to see if they make good on their word, although given their past performance, I am not confident. Mr. Steker hasn't even responded.
BEWARE! If you deal with this guy, or his company, you run a real risk of being ripped off like I was. He will do substantial damage to your company and once he has fleaced you for what he can, he will disappear. That is apparently what he did to several of us as judged by the state of Florida.
If anyone else with complaints against this guy and his cohorts has a case pending or an attorney going after him, let me know. I am happy to consider joining forces. If I can figure out how to post a link to the judgements against these guys, I will so everyone can read them.
