I need some thing to coat my new shop floor. I went on the internet and put in shop floor coatings and I found Nationat coatings. A Rep call me name(SO) He told me all about there coating and how good it was. The Company has used it in Plants, auto shop floors in alot of auto dealerships, airplain hangers never had a problem. He said that this was a polmer base coating better than xpoxy coating that will faid and come up. I told him i put down xpoxy coating on the floor at the plant were i worked and i saw the xpoxy coating come up off the floor. I don't want to put that on the floor for that reason. Mr.SO said That i need to buy The Surface Master- Protective Coating For Concrete. I got 6 gallons one gal free a total of 7 gallons. I got 1 gallon of clear coating to put on my front pourch. I never put it on becouse i am afraid it may come up too. I called the company four times. Two times a lady said some one will call me no one did. The 3d time was on January/30/2015 @ 1:45 pm .I talked to Mr. John Murphy. I told him my problem he said: I'll have some one to call you by Monday. No one did. I called the 4th time on 3/27/2015 @ 1:30pm had to leave mags. I didn't say why. Mr. John Murphy called @ 2:05 pm. I told him my problem with his coating. Mr. Murphy said " ok Jamie I'll have some one to call you on Monday" I told mr. Murphy this has been going on to long ! I want my money back and the cost to sand blast the coating off my floor. Mr . Murphy said " like i said, Jamie I'll have some one call you Monday If thay don't call me back and I'll make sure you get some body." I received a call back from National Coatings the following day from submitting a quote request and was quite impressed with the product they offer to resurface my garage floor. Since theirs came with a 25 year guarantee and required no mixing I went for it. All i can say is BIG MISTAKE!! The paint peeled under the tires and it is dangerously slippery dry or wet. I have fallen numerous times and even my dog has a hard time walking on the floor without her legs slipping out from underneath her. When I called to complain and get a refund they balked and initially tried to send another gallon of the product at a cost to me stating it was applied incorrectly then after two attempts to talk to someone they called me and left a voice mail that they were sending out a gallon of hardener to use that would solve my problem. The only issue is there are major patches of bare concrete from where the tires sit from it peeling so why would i put hardener over a crappy peeling floor? I have been waiting for 8 months for a reply back from emails and a letter requesting a refund with no response to date. In my mind National Coatings is a scam and I do not recommend this product to anyone!!
I built a garage in January of last year. I contacted National Coatings on The Surface Master product and they told me how wonderful it was and how it would be great on my new concrete floor. The floor had cured longer than they said it needed to, and I followed the instructions that they offered with regard to temperature, prep and application.
Almost immediately after applying I had adhesion problems where tires sat on the floor (car, motorcycle, lawn tractor). I called and spoke with Customer Service, who sent me a gallon of touch up. I explained that the issue was general adhesion but the rep was no help, trying to tell me I failed to follow the instructions.
Ultimately, wherever water gets on the floor, it wrinkles and peels up providing no protection. Emails to the company now fail to garner any response at this point.
After spending over $500 on this product I have a floor that would be better if it had nothing on it.
On Sept. 7, 2011 I talked to "Ron" at National Coatings, Inc. about epoxy coating for my new garage floor. Ron said that their Surface Master product was, cost less and was easier to apply. I was told I could walk on it 4 hours after application and drive on it after 24 hours. I ordered the product and paid $591.75 for 6 gallons. I was told this was 1/2 price because their warehouse was flooded and they needed to move product out.
Shortly after receipt, I applied two coats as directed. Drying time was over two weeks before we could walk on it. After approx. one month, we started parking on it and the product starting coming off. I talked to Ron and was told I needed to put on another coat. I told Ron the "dark grey" color was more "sky blue" than grey and my wife hated the color. I bought three more gallons of "chocolate brown" to cover, which turned out to be burnt orange!.
The third coat was allowed to dry for more than a month before I began parking and moving my tools, etc. into the 3 car garage. The surface coatings are pealing down to the bare, unsealed concrete.
Dave Sanders, called and introduced himself as GM of National Coatings. I was too busy to talk to him, but told him I wasn't happy and needed to talk to him. I finally was able to talk to Mr. Sanders on March 13, 2012.
I described to Mr. Sanders how the product was applied and he asked me if I had put on "the clear sealer". Mr. Sanders was told that there was never a mention of a sealer either by Ron or in the application directions; he told me that the sealer was necessary to seal and harden the Surface Master coatings I had applied and that "Ron" was no longer with them and Ron didn't "know their product very well".
Mr. Sanders said he would send me one coat of "sealer" for free, but I would have to pay for the other two gallons I would need. I told Mr. Sanders I would have to empty out my entire 3 car garage, with no place to store tools, etc. And that I thought his offer was totally unacceptable.
Mr. Sanders continued to try and sell me the "sealer" stating something like, "but don't you want your floor to be finished so it stays on?" I told him I thought his offer was a rip-off and I would not spend another dime on his products!
I redceived a standard spam email from National Coatings, and it caught my attention as it sounded like a product that I could use. I wanted to repaint my pool, and knew the process involved in redoing it with epoxy paints would be time consuming and difficult. I contacted them, and spoke with Dave Sanders, the GM. He told me he had used the product on his own pool, it was 12 years old and looked like new. He told me it was a simple matter of draining the pool, letting it dry, painting and I could refill within hours. I ordered the product, paid for the shipping and duties to have it delivered (Close to $800), Then received a call for Dave wondering how it had gone. I hadn't done it yet as I was waiting for spring when we would have dryer weather to drain and fill it. He told me I would need an additional product ""Powersolve" to clean the surface prior to painting.
Since I had already purchased the paint, I was forced to spend another $250 to have the Powersolve shipped to me. When I finally drained the pool, I pressure washed the surface, I used the powersolve product to scrub the surface although it didn't appear to make it any cleaner. I did a light acid wash on as some areas were especially stained (Overkill according to Dave, but would have been standard with normal Epoxy coating). I then let the pool dry for several days, do make sure there was absolutely no moisture. I painted the pool with his product, it went on nicely on 90% of the area, but a few spots were starting to bubble before it was even finished drying. I let the pool sit for another five days to make sure the coating had set (Overkill according to Dave) But when I filled the pool again, I have seen more portions of the coating bubbling up, and peeling. The entire edge around the surface has peeled and come off into my water so I had to vacuum up the pieces. After one season, I have a pool that looks far worse than before I spent $1000 and countless hours trying to make it look good. The sand in my filter needs to be changed because so much paint flecks has gone in that it is beyond backwashing now. I will need to rent a sand blaster or something to remove the remaining flecks of coating, and spend another $1000 or more to acid wash and paint with epoxy. I complained to the company asking for some sort of compensation for the product that did not work at all like was promised, and have not even received so much as a response.
