As part of the MBA600 course with Bellevue University, we were required to participate in "myBusinessCourse" software. If you purchased the book new, then the software came with the book. However, if you rented or purchased a used book as I did, you needed to purchase the "myBusinessCourse" software separately. The software could only be used online, and is only good for a certain period of time.
After approximately 1 month in classes, my mother was put into hospice care and subsequently passed away. The school approved what is known as a "compassionate withdrawal", and provided me a refund under these circumstances. I contacted Cambridge Business Publishers, the creators of "myBusinessCourse", to determine if I could receive a partial refund of the $50 cost of the software. They replied with their refund policy, stating that if I provided them with a letter from my school's registrar I could use the software on another course within the next 6 months.
I explained that this does me no good as I will not be taking the course again in that time period. I have essentially wasted $50 on a product that I now have no use for. I feel that exceptions should be made in mitagating cicumstances, and that this is poor business ethics. I regret that Bellevue requires students to use their software, and I will never give any more money to this company or any affiliate.
