We went thru myairbags.com, filled out the info necessary to accomplish the necessary repairs. We then shipped our restraint control module that needed to have the memory reprogrammed. Paid for everything using their online system.
The cost of the repair was $80.00. The module was shipped back to us and placed back in the 2014 Ford Escape, the seats all put back in place and the car put back together. Very labor intense!
Unfortunatelythis where the whole process falls apart, the vehicle had to then go to the ford dealership and the mechanic contacted us and said the module was showing 13 codes that needed to be cleared.... What! I thought I paid myairbags to do that very thing!
Contacted myairbags to let them know the work was paid for but never done, the customer service rep was very defensive and argumentative, stated they did the work, we asked for some kind of documentation to show when, where and who did the repair. Customer service rep said none existed...What company doesn't have some kind of documentation that a service job is done?
I had documentation that it was not done by the dealership? Customer service rep was not interested in that, she was too busy saying they did the work. I stated I want my money returned for the repair that was never done and wanted myairbags to compensate me for all the extra labor that now needed to be paid to tear the car apart again, then put back together again, not to mention I know needed to by a new module.
A quality company stands behind its repairs...this company is not that! I would steer clear of myairbags.com
the rep just continued to lie and say they did the reprogramming of the module, when clearly it was not done.
I sent my original airbag controller for recoding as it was generating an error code. They recoded it and sent it back. It generated the same error and when I contacted myairbags they said "oh, we can't fix that code, it requires a new control module." So, I took it to the dealer and bought a refurbished one myairbags had cleaned. It didn't work. They sent me a 2nd one, it didn't work. When the tech at the dealer unplugged an airbag, it showed no codes on the new units at all after the units were coded to the vehicle (each control module has to be coded to the specific vehicle). The original module, though still generating an error code, did show when an airbag was unplugged. So...there appears to be something with the refurbished units that renders them problematic. I called and asked about this and they kept blaming it on the dealer, indicating that the dealer had to code it. When I explained the dealer had coded it and they were very familiar with this procedure, they then said they don't recommend refurbished units. I asked why they had sold me 2. The rep. said they recommend coding the original unit. I reminded her I had them do that and then they sold me 2 refurbished anyway.
In the end, she told me to return the units for a refund. I am now out $300 in labor and I still have to buy a $700 new unit from the dealer and pay additional labor. Save yourself the expense, don't gamble on these folks. The units may or may not work on other vehicles, but it was a disaster they didn't know how to solve and the experiment cost me $300 and I had to buy a new one anyway. They did agree to refund all costs for the services/units and they called me to tell me they were doing so.
