I had items moved from Michgan to Texas and hired moving staffers to pack a POD since I could not be there myself due to work constraints. When I was describing the items to be moved I told the person on the phone that I would like my dollhouse to be brought down, but if it couldn't be packed then just leave it - I would pick it up at a later time in the safety of my car since it was technically small enough to fit. When the POD arrived I noticed that the dollhouse was packed in nothing more than a thin bedsheet and mailing tape with a bunch of stuff still in it (even though they refused to move another item that had stuff still in it ... apparently this didn't apply in this case). When I complained, I was offered a mere $18 as a settlement as per their damage policy. (A similar dollhouse, with far less detail and from that time period, if I were to try to replace it, cost more over $500).
While I understand that they have a policy to replace 60 cents per pound for damages, in this case I feel that the damage was due to gross negligence - particularly given the fact that I had told them the dollhouse was delicate and thus optional and to leave it behind if it couldn't be packed right. They did not even offer to help repair the item in question.
Customer service was a joke. The first time I called I was transferred to a lady who then transferred me to a "voicemail" that was instead just a loop telling me that someone would be with me shortly. I called back immediately only to wait for 20 minutes on hold before I could even speak to someone. I have not felt this angry and disillusioned with a company in a long time.
From the very beginning they were so rude to me, they caused me so much grief about not wanting to move my 210 gallon aquarium. I had to sign a waiver to release them from liability from it. I eneded up having to ask for a different representative due to how rude she was being to me thru emails and phone calls. I was charged by the Moving company for the paper wrapping they used as well as tape. I am fine with that but anything they covered was fine, and the items they chose not to cover were ruined. I ended up paying more than double the price I was quoted. I don't understand why they would cover one big screen tv but not the other. They caught my couch on the door getting it out which they covered, but my couch is torn on the back and arm now. My round chair and overstuffed recliner wer Not covered and are damaged and filthy from being layed on the floor of the trailer also having wood splinters all over. My brand new upright freezer was not covered and is now scratched down to the metal completely on the door and sides. My new HP computer LCD screen is ruined. Something had to have been dropped on it since there is a puncture hole in the original factory box and the screen is ruined. I took my computer to a computer repair but they are unable to repair it due to it is still so new. I had to pay $60.00 for them to remove all my data from my computer onto an external hardrive. The unloaders broke the ceiling fan in the laundry room and didn't even tell me. just left the blades stacked nicely on a shelf for me to find two days later and wonder what happened. The screen on my 50" tv is ruined. My ottoman to my couch it torn thru the bottom as if something was layed on it and tore thru it. When I called to file a claim for damages, Moving Staffers told me I had to send the claim to the loaders company Johnson's Storage. I did so. Now Johnson's is emailing me saying they got my claim but have not been paid by Moving Staffers and can't do anything until they are paid. I called Moving Staffers and they said I have to contact Coast To Coast for the unloaders as far as the damaged fan in the laundry room. I called Coast to Coast but they told me Moving Staffers handles everything and to contact them. I have called Moving Staffers 3 times to day(11/21/14) and all I keep getting is the run around, they refuse to transfer me to the claims department. I have tried calling UPack, Moving Staffers, and Coast to Coast today and no one can help me. I had coverage at .60 per dolar and no one seems to want to help me with my damages and just keeps telling me to call someone else. They said I had to tell them what was damaged the day they loaded everything while they were still there but how was I suppsed to know what was broken when it was all being loaded and I didn't see it at that time. My trailer was picked up and then moved here to Florida for me. I didn't see any damage until I started unloading and unpacking everything. I had to go buy a brand new computer right away costing me $650.00 This company need to make this right!
We had a novelty gift item, a #10 sealed tin can with a slit cut into the top to be used as a piggy bank sitting on a table in our home. It had $400 worth of bills inside. We passed by this can many times a day and it was always intact.
On the first day Moving Staffers came to pack up our house hold belongings, 3 men were there to pack.
On the second day, only 2 men returned.
All our moving boxes and furniture were packed into the moving van very tightly and I kept the key that locked the back door of the van.
When we unpacked our boxes at our new home, we pulled this tin can out and found that the slit at the top had been pried open and all the bills had been stolen.
I contacted Moving Staffers immediately and they refused to do anything about it themselves, saying that my only recourse would be to file a police report which I did immediately.
I filed a report with the Broward County Sheriff's office.
The detective assigned to the case has tried to contact Moving Staffers repeatedly but the quality control supervisor has thus far refused to return the detective's calls.
When I spoke to Moving Staffers they refused to take any measures to resolve this issue of theft.
Moving Staffers was absolutely pathetic. We bought 2 boxes of the paper moving blankets that they recommended along with 2 dozen heavy duty moving blankets and still almost every piece of our furniture was damaged including family heirloom hand made cedar chests. They stacked boxes labeled "FRAGILE" in large unmistakable markings on the bottom with heavier items on top. I saw one of them actually throw one of my gun cases into the trailer. There was also so much wasted space in one trailer that I had to get a second trailer and load it myself. They just wanted to leave after 4 hours. They now claim no liability as they say we signed everything away and resolved them of any responsibility. We have 2 dozen pictures documenting damage. They really should be required to warn potential customers that they will just throw your stuff in a trailer and leave you hanging. Absolutely the worst moving experience of our lives. This company should not be in business except maybe loading trailers headed to the trash dump.
