We hired Move Management International to relocate to New zealand, we were given a quote on the cost of shipment. When the packed arrived after they had filled the agreed upon crate, we had more items that were left . We opted to leave them in storage but were convinced by the moving packers that the cost would not exceed 500 dollars for the additional items. While packing they contacted someone in the office. It took Move Management 3 weeks to get back to us with a final price which was almost 3 times the agreed price. When we called to complain about the misinformation we were told that this was in no way their responsability. They offered to unload the crates and take pictures which we agreed, but when they were going to do this they said this would incur in an additional cost that we would have to pay at 39/hr for an unknown number of hours. When we asked what it would cost to return our items, Mr Manuel Rojas the vicepresident of the company decided we were not good enough clients and decided to stop our shipment. It took hiom another week to send a storage bill for $1500 dollars for a service he never provided, and to make matters worse he would not accept payment by credit card , but only cash or wire transfer, otherwise he would not release our items. Unfortunately this is not the first time this character behaves in this manner as I been finding out from other unsatisfied customers. He claims that we theatedn their staff, yet he fails to explain with what. This complaint is to raise awareness about the practices of this manager to other customers that are planning to move.
This client called our office on a Saturday to move the goods the upcoming Monday based on 200 cuft. crate known as a liftvan. We spoke to the client quite a bit on that Saturday, explaining that our crew would be out at residence with the crate and in order to stay at the estimated costs, only what would fit within the liftvan should be sent. We agreed for the pick up on Tuesday due to scheduling and they (crew) went out with the liftvan and loaded that contents for that crate but the client also insisted to send more items aside from the crate, about 50% more.
We received the goods into the warehouse and they were loaded into another crate and the costs given to the client. The client then claimed that the packers at the job site said the costs should be about $500, don't know how they came to that number and as I tried to explain to the clients, they had always spoken to the pricing and operation department and that the packers on site were not qualified to provide costs for international shipping, they just pack. We priced up the additional, it was going to New Zealand, and informed the client who went ballistic and insisted, no demanded, that we must honor $500 that was flippantly stated by the packers. I tried to explain that pricing, just like scheduling, customs process, etc. was handled by office staff and they had always spoken to us, why would they take a comment made by the packers, and they would not hear of it. They called us liars, thieves, and worse when we explained that, while the packers should not have said anything at all and refered them back to the office, we have explained the process and if the cost was $4000 amount for shipping 200 cuft., shipping the additional 100 cuft. would be more than $500, it is relative to the final volume shipped as noted in RED on all our paperwork.
The client called, berated everyone on the phone, cussed, yelled to the point that I advised them that I would not be handling their move going forward and they should find another vendor/provider to send their items. We gave them costs for the services and based on the way they reacted and such, I decided that a credit card would only lead to a reversal of charges, and decided would not be an option for payment. The charges were valid and based on the costs provided initially for the full packing and loading, nothing more.
