I am completely shocked at the level of service this company has displayed. I called in one month before our move date of June 6 2015 to schedule our move. The lady I spoke with took down my information and said it would be $95 to hold that date. I put the deposit down happily knowing that that would secure our moving date. On June 5th (the day before we were scheduled to move) at 3:30 in the afternoon, Monster Movers calls and says “we can’t move you tomorrow so can you reschedule for Monday?” No apology was given, and I still have not received one. We asked what the reason was for the reschedule, and the lady on the phone said that she didn’t know, her boss told her to call and reschedule us. I was very unhappy with this, but this wasn’t even the worst part. I explained that Monday would not work because we were going back to work that day. She then offered us that same day (June 5) with a window of 5pm-9pm. I asked if we were going to get a discounted rate seeing as they were the one’s rescheduling and it was going to be during prime traffic time. They declined to give us a discount. At this point, we were desperately trying to find a different moving company to move us, but of course everyone was completely booked out for two weeks at least. We then agreed for Monster Movers to move us that day from 5-9 after I had to switch a bunch of appointments around. My fiancé also asked that the boss call him personally to explain the situation because we were very upset. He never called us of course. I started calling Monster Movers back at 5 pm that day because I wanted to ensure they could give me a phone number for the driver of the moving truck that was supposed to meet us at our apartment. I also wanted to make sure they had the gate code. My fiancé and I called from 5pm-6pm a total of 31 times. NOBODY EVER ANSWERED. NOBODY EVER SHOWED UP TO MOVE US EITHER. We waited around at our apartment from 5pm-9 pm on a day that was supposed to be extremely happy and celebratory because we had closed on our first home. We have yet to receive any sort of apology or phone call from anyone at Monster Movers. The next day, the only thing that I received was an emailed receipt saying they had refunded our deposit. People CANNOT be treated this way. The reason I chose this company was because of the 4 and 5 star reviews, but I am convinced they are fake. This business has acted in a way that I can’t even imagine. Nobody should be treated how we were treated, and I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH MONSTER MOVERS.
Luckily, ABC movers returned my frantic call stating that they had a cancellation and were able to move us on June 6. They moved us fast, easily and efficiently. Their staff was also extremely helpful, and I even received a phone call from their boss afterwards ensuring that I was satisfied with their services. I would highly recommend ABC.
I didn't choose them or even knew who would be moving us till they showed up to my apartment. I recognized the name immediately since they had so many other terrible reviews online. But they were already there, nothing could be done at that point.
Anyway, the boss man, I think his name was Oscar, was so rude. He only added to the stress of moving. The two kids he brought with him have no business moving, or being in people's homes, period - I'll get back to this point later.
We didn't have that much furniture to begin with, we left our entire dining room behind, both couches and other big pieces of furniture. The few pieces we did have should have been taken care of.. Instead we ended up with a lot of scratches, dents, even a leg fell off of my tv stand (Oscar said the "glue" came off, but it was held together with screws, like duh)
Back to the two kids.. I am 100% sure they STOLE a laptop and an iPad that were stored in one of our boxes. What a coincidence that two of our most valuable things just disappeared?? I have filed a police report, I went to the Monster office and told them about the incident and were not helpful one bit. They still have a criminal (or two) working for them, letting them enter people's homes, paying them and trusting them to safely transport their belongings and instead they are taking whatever they want. This is a gross injustice. I will never get my belongings back, but I will make it my mission than no one else give any business to these crooks.
You're just as safe picking up some random from the street, at least it'll save you $300+.
