I recently purchased 4 new Monroe shocks for my motorhome during the rebate program and confirmed that my purchase qualified for the rebate. I promptly submitted all the required paperwork and began ""the wait"". It has been 5 months now. These people are a real piece of work.
I run my own business, and if I completely ignored any and all correspondence from one of my clients like Monroe does to me, I'm sure they would go elsewhere. Do NOT waste your time e mailing them. I never received a reply to any of mine. If you call, ""the check is in the mail"". I am convinced that they have no intention of sending the rebate. The goal of the rebate program is to get your money and then blow you off, or wear you down until you just go away.
They seriously try everything to get out of paying. My parts store said Monroe denied one claim because the guy was told by Monroe that he is a ""group"", and you must be an ""individual"" to qualify. They are worse than an insurance company. FIVE MONTHS...... My goal is to expose them to everyone I can.
Trust me, they will come up with every line of c--- they can think up before paying. Is this a rebate program or what? Why do they put their customers through this grief? Do they think they are accomplishing something positive? I have cost them several sales over this. After 40 years of loyalty from me, they have lost my business as well. I own 9 vehicles, so that was a big hit for them.
Monroe, here is a little wisdom I picked up in my years as a businessman: When a customer leaves happy, the only time he will mention your name is when someone asks him if he knows of a good shock (company), and his reply will be positive. When you screw your customer, he will stand on the busiest corner in town and tell everyone passing by what you did to him, and it will be negative for your company.
So while the Monroe jerks sit in their office counting the $56.00 they ""stole"" from me, I have costed them at least $1000.00. Maybe its time for them to replace a few bad apples who have decided that stealing, lying and cheating are better for business than earning their money and customers. They are going to go broke with their current strategy.
Bottom line: Dont fall for this rebate nonsense. If you like Monroe shocks and you think the price you are being quoted is fair, buy them on that face value alone. Do NOT think you are getting 25% of your purchase price back, because it probably will not happen in your lifetime. My advice is to look at other brands that have a more honest approach to their business ethics.
