Salesman comes by so I could test his equipment. I tells him I'm moving in a couple of months. He tells me it won't be any problem to just try it out, its just on a trial basis. I says even though I'm moving in a couple of months and he says it wouldn't be a problem when I move and that I could either leave it there or just call monitronics and everything would be taken care of hassle free.
So a couple of months later I sold my house and moved and left the alarm system there for the new homeowners. I informed monitronics that I moved and left the system there for the new homeowners and they tells me that if the new homeowners doesn't transfer their name on to the contract that I would be stuck with a $68.00 a month bill for the next 5 years. So they didn't transfer their name. I've contacted both elite home security and monitronics home security to cancel the service over 10 times. I've talked to the move/cancellation department as well and to no avail.
They are trying to make me pay this bill for 5 years now even though I'm not living there and have tried to cancel time and time again. They constantly play these games with you by telling you to call such and such department or person to remedy the situation and all they're doing is hoping that you eventually give up and continue to pay. Which is not gonna happen. I've had to close my bank account and get another one because they went in and took money out of it without my consent. These are some very unethical business people in practice as well as in person. They are conniving, shysty and straight up liars and every chance I get to tell customers, the media, lawyers, their competitors about it, I'm doing it.
I live in a gated community which does not allow door to door sales. The sign is clearly posted on the gate.
Monitronics aka Security Network ignored the sign and came directly to my Mobile Home. They saw my previous Security Company sign and the salesman "Tage" said "I see you are with ADT Security". I said I had been and then he said they were here to upgrade me. I thought he was with ADT, not until he was having me sign a (5year contract) did I realize he had mis- represented himself and company.
They intalled a new monitor and gave me a necklace to use in the event I deeded help. Well he failed to tell me that you would have to be sitting ON the monitor because it only works 200 ft from the box. That stupid necklace would go off at all times of the day or night.
A week later Tage called to see how I liked my new system. I told him how I felt and that I wanted out of the contract. He said that wasn't possible that I signed a contact. I told him that I was told that I could break the contract according to the paperwork. He told me that I had 3 days to do that and it was now a week and it could not be done. After I complained for awhile, he finally offered me a 3 year contract and I said I didn't want any, that I felt he had coerced me and had been deceitful and I wanted OUT. His answer was NO!
I told my Manager what had happened and she was extremely angry and called the Head Office. She told them what happened and told them they needed tio release me from the contract. They refused again.
They had access to my bank account and took payments out automatically. I have now paid these people for 3 years and I am not giving them another cent. They can have me arrested and put me behind bars but I will NOT PAY!
I asked my bank to stop all payments to these people and they said to write a letter telling them I was going to do this and give them a copy. Now they won't stop harrassing me. They call all hours of the day or night. I am not answering their calls any more. They sent me a letter saying that I owe more than $700. but they are willing to accept $553. Even if I had it I would not give it to them.
I called Channel 3 and someone who called herself Norma Thursday was going to help me, but she forgot each time why I was calling and then she went on a two week vacation. I gave up on her.
I was just told to get in touch with Channekl 13 and I did. They suggested that I notify Consumer Affairs. I did and they are going to send forms to me. He also auggested that I contat my City Council and Mayor.
The Mayor referred me to the District Attorney's office and he said that this wasn't really a criminal case but rather contract disagreement but he is also going to send some forms because I think he's interested in the fact that these people prey on the Elderly knowing it takes awhile for us to get our bearings and by then they have us locked in.
I'm a senior who is tired of people who take advantage of us because we are old. I may be older that "dirt" but I'm not dead yet and I'm not giving in.
For over one year Monitronics alarm monitoring company has failed to reapir my alarm system. They have put my business at physical risk due to their negligence and breach of contractual obligations.
We happen to missed the first dispatch call so i called them back to verify the problem they to me the entry door. I said to send the cops and she said I have. The kicker is when i called back to tell them is was a false alarm the lady said my accout is closed and no activity on this account and i was not in the system. So i called again and spoke to a guy name Frank he said since i am closing one account and have a new account the system some how my info. I told him this company is putting my wife and 2 boys at risk with this crappy system and i will be filling BBB and other reports.
Monitronics is a terriable company to do business with, their custom service representives needs to be trained. I called to have my service cancled 3 months ago and recieved a bill. I called the company asking them what the bill was for and they said i never faxed my cancelation letter. so they continued to bill. I was transfered and the representived he was very defensive stating that i never called to cancel, and told me i was ripped off by ADT (my new service provider).
After being acused of lying i was transfered to another person and found out that i was never being protected for more than 3 years. She tolad me i had a land line and i told her i cant even remember the last time i has a land line. So i've been paying a bill for a system that was not protecting my home because i didnt have a land line. and futher more they auto renuwed my policy with out my permision. I'm sure that's illegal in the state of Ohio! I was on hold for 19 minutes and on the phone for a total of 39 minutes.
Terriable Terriable company and practices. do not do business with them they do not have a BBB certification because of the many complaints!

Monitronic is scammers they sign you up to there security company. But never wnat to release you from the contract.
