I purchased a male Papillon that was advertized as a show trained dog, ready to go into the AKC conformation class. I paid $2500 plus $325 shipping. When he arrived he was thin, almost emaciated and had serious dental problems. i took him to my vet for his after purchase check-up which revealed a lot of tartar buildup, gingivitis and caries. this condition effects the overall health of the dog to the point of being life threatening if not remidied soon. his teeth should have been cleaned prior to shipping or i should have been apraised of this condition.
if teeth must be extracted due to the infection this dog will not ever be showable which will affect the value of his puppies.
the seller also did not disclose that he had broken his leg.
this dog is afraid of heights such as a table that is normally used in the show ring for all small dogs to be examined by the judge.
he is also afraid of going down stairs. These can be symptoms of visual impairment. i have taken him to an Opthamologist for animals and am doing a genetic test for PRA-1 to rule out any physical problems.
i have not recieved his signed AKC registration papers from the seller.
he is supposed to be microchipped but 2 different vets and 1 vet tech have scanned all over him and could not read anything. 3 different scanners were used.
