All right so, two years ago, on apporximately October 25; I had responded to an ad on Craig's list about this new acting/modeling "academy" as it is called. The statement used was that I could be an actormodel, but I would not have to pay anything upfront and to always trust an agent if they book you a job and then take a percentage, after you booked it. From the email, it told me how to audition, to call a certain number and meet up at the woman's residence. Apparently, she has a loft in downtown Lexington.
When I got there, I did the audition and she went off on talking about modeling. Specifically, the "academy" that has this website, could not find any acting clients and so she told me it would someday become a full fledged modeling agency.
The website clearly states that it is an academy, but then why charge some horrendous fees to take classes? I even questioned her on this and she kind of hurried me out of her door. While even talking to her, she did mention that I could be of assistance and I called her cell about 6 months later and no pick up. Additionally, I sent an email to the email address listed and it bounces back.
I did not lose anything over this; however, I really question people to literally and figuratively "buy" into this. If she is trying to promote her academy, why even put a post saying that she is an agent that will only take a percentage when booked? It seemed as if she wanted to act like it was an agency. On top of that, she never responded back and so if someone applies for this academy and finds that she never responds back, they would have lost about a grand that it takes to pay for anything she teaches you.
I personally think this is a scam. They cannot gaurantee you work, yet her son is an actor that made $10,000 off a commercial. She IS an agent; however, she is UNABLE to gaurantee any work when you take classes? Seriously?
She and I apparently live in the same city and the headquarters is in California. I can pretty much say now that I am ashamed she is using California to promote this academy. People do not scam in California.
