Tim Sullivan came to my home and gave me a quote for moving me from Durham, NC to Emerald Isle, NC which I accepted. After I signed the contract, he insisted that the deposit be made in cash. I explained my funds are limited as I am on disability. I had to be in Emerald Isle, NC on Saturday morning at 10 am to close on my new home, a 3 1/2 hour drive from where it was moving from in Durham, NC. He confidently informed me he and his own truck, which he owned, would arrive on Friday to load then his men would return very early Saturday morning (6am) to drive with me to Emerald Isle. Several friends, neighbors and acquaintances took off work on Friday to help me pick, organize and get the truck loaded. Sadly, Tim Sullivan nor his crew showed up on Friday with his truck to load up. Repeated calls garnered repeated excuses. His truck was in California making a run, his men were not available, all of the rental trucks were taken and many more. Finally again 6pm he said he could not make it but would be there very early on Saturday to pack and drive to Emerald Isle. I reminded him that I had to be there at 10 am. He stated it would take 3 hours to load the truck and 3 1/2 to get to the final destination but guaranteed me he would be delivery my belongings to Emerald Isle by 1:30pm on Saturday. I had to leave to make the closing but left several friends there to assist with loading the truck and then give him directions and instructions. When Tim Sullivan and company still had not shown up at the house by 11am called him and he stated they would be at the house at 11:30am. By 2pm he still had not arrived - I called again and stated he was having trouble finding a truck and it might be the following day. I explained that was unacceptable as the new owners of my house would be moving in at that time. Tim said that he would rent a U-Haul and be there shortly. At 4 pm he called and said he was on the way to puck up the rental moving van he had reserved. At 5pm he stated that he could not find an available truck. I called U-Haul and reserved a truck in my name for Tim to pick up. At 6pm Tim called and said he had found a truck and was going to pick up his crew and would be there by 7 pm. At. 8:30pm I called him back and he said he had been involved in a car wreck in the rental van and would not be able to make it. I asked where the accident happened and he was evasive but said I85. I checked the news and traffic channels and telephoned the local police stations, all of whom reported no accidents had been recorded and especially none involving moving vans or a moving company. I have requested my $150 deposit to be returned over ten times now and receive multiple excuses about my refund. He states he had to get a cashiers checks but it was a holiday. He states the check was returned as undeliverable even though I verified the address. At this point, I will be taking legal action against Tim Sullivan and the moving company.
