Mike Thompson's RV Reviews

  • May 6, 2014

Mike Thompson's RV sold us used ""Show"" trailer, after promising us we would receive a

""brand new offline"" trailer. Have now had multiple problems and major repairs...currently trailer is broken again.

On 11-2-2013 we attened the Pomona RV show at the Pomona Fairgrounds. It was the last day of the RV show when we found a trailer we really liked alot offered by Mike Thompson's RV. It was the Keystone Outback Super-lite 298re. Kellen Burlingame was our salesman, and told us it was the only model of its kind at the RV show.

After careful deliberation, as we made our decision, we were adamant about the fact that we did not want the ""show trailer"" that everyone had been trampling in for the 2 week RV show. Kellen Burlingame guaranteed us, as well as the finance person, Chris Comer, that we would be receiving a ""Brand New Offline Keystone Outback 298re"".That was not the case...Many items needed to be repaired after our initial ""walk thru"", most cosmetic, but a few were not.

On our 2nd trip out, the small closet slide cables snapped! We were barely able to get it back in, only to have to tow it 42 miles back to Mike Thompson's RV in Fountain Valley. After almost 2 weeks, we were finally able to pick up our trailer. At that time we were informed that they had thourghly examined the other two slides, so this would not happen again.

We took our trailer out again, 160 miles from our home, and the same small closet slide cables broke again. We also noticed water leaking and a horrible smell coming from the front section of the trailer. We were forced to call a mobile RV repair, at a cost of $155.00, to come out and put the slide in safely so we could drive it to the closest repair facility.

We had to leave our trailer there, for repairs, 140 miles from our home. Two weeks later we were contacted by the repair facility and told that the black tank had a hole in it. That was were the leaking and horrible smell was from. This confused us, because the trailer was built with a metal underbelly the length of the trailer to protect the all the tanks underneath?? They had to cut that metal in the center to replace the black tank.

So now we don't have what we originally paid for, the full length metal underbelly cover. It was cut in half and taped in the center. The small closet slide cables were replaced a second time. Although we were told it they would not break again.

We picked up our trailer and stopped somewhere close to check out all the repairs. Eveything seemed ok, until we noticed that the underbelly where that had cut it, was bowing and leaking. We had to take it back to the repair facility, again this is 140 miles from our home, and leave it there for more repairs.

It was another week and a half before we could get back to the repair facility..only to be told there was no leak and all was fine. So we took it out again, this time the large living room slide broke. So aother $125.00 mobile service call so we could safely tow the trailer 140 miles home. So here we are again having to take it back to Mike Thompson's RV in Fountain Valey for more repairs on a slide they told us they had thourghly examined, and get it repaired.

This is not a ""new trailer"" by any means. We have no security that some other major problem will not happen again. We have yet to get re-imbursed for the first mobile service call of $155.00, as Keystone had promised. The service departments have had our trailer more than we have. Help
