Total ripoffs! I have a friend of my wife and I who was in a domestic abusive relationship. She could not afford to move. I agreed to pay for her move to get her out of a bad situation. I contacted Ronnie Kearby with Mighty Movers to set a move up. I gave a very detailed itemized list of items to move. I also provided an exact address to address. After Mr. Kearby evaluated the items to be moved and the pick up & final destination I was quoted a price to move of $270. I gave my credit card information over the phone as the company requested by Mr. Kearby to hold on file until after the move was completed. My friend said the movers were late, during the move they were smoking, slow walking taking their time, cutting up laughing & joking, not professional, texting on their phones and stood around talking in their truck when they thought she wasn't looking.
She said they were flirting asking personal questions which she found offensive & disrespectful again very unprofessional. She even said she started helping them because they were taking too long and she had other commitments later that day. She said the movers were day labor quality not people who do this professionally. Several items were damaged including the walls in both homes were scratched. The company contacted my wife because Mr. Kearby wrote the 3-digit code on my credit card down wrong. My wife provided the code for the $270.00 to be billed. They never told my wife a price. She was under the impression the card was to be billed $270.00. My credit card was billed $514.50 without my knowledge or approval, which was nearly over double what I was told. I never got an opportunity to view the bill before they billed my card the $514.50. Nor did they call to inform me it was going to be higher or double what I was quoted. They also charged my card a 5% convenience fee, which was never disclosed before I gave the credit card. I did not become aware of the 5% convenience fee until I received a response from my credit card company when I reversed the charges. The company stated in their response that they charged my card a 5% convenience fee for using the card: totally unethical billing practices. The 5% should be notified before the company agrees to accept a credit card not after the services are complete. I was only notified hours after the move by email with the final price, again the 5% was not even disclosed in that email. I contacted the company immediately and asked to speak to Ronnie Kearby, a manager or the owner. The manager nor the owner Brian Relin will not return any calls. No one answers my calls now. I tried from a different number and a gentleman in sales immediately answered. They gave an excuse Ronnie Kearby, no manager nor the owners were available and they would have someone call me back. No call to date. Very disappointed in their unethical billing practices and their customer service. I will never use this company again or refer them to anyone. I see online I am not the only one who has experienced the exact same issues. Unhappy customers will destroy a business quick. Again I am very disappointed in this company's ethnical business practices.
This company is trying to hide from the public with many addresses. When you Google Mighty Movers the Whitehall address pos up as in the next line below. I have located many other addresses registered with the State of Texas not advertised. I have included them below:
This was an apartment to apartment move (3rd to 1st floor) with about a mile transit from apt. to apt.
Only sent two movers. Very slow. Would not take anything that was not in a sealed cardboard box. Would not take my grandson's plastic batcave toy that was in a wicker basket with handles!
In actual furniture, we had only two bed frames, two bookcases, TV stand.
Move took 4 hours. I was willing to pay a bit more for last minute accommodations and since we were on third floor.
Their "all inclusive price" did not include use of a hand cart, debit card convenience fee (which they required number up front), and gas. My total bill was just under $600.
I tried to negotiate and they agreed to 3 hours and quoted me price, but when I looked at bank statement, I had numerous charges on their which I inquired about and found out about the additional charges for using hand truck, gas and credit card convenience fee.
Do not use these movers. Very slow, lazy and no sense or urgency to get job done. I was, not told "rules" of what they can move due to what they sight as insurance reasons, hidden charges and outrageous rates.
Extremely disappointed and sad over this experience especially since this move was due to an unfortunate divorce.
