Midland Funding Company Reviews

  • Oct 7, 2015

Midland Funding Company was based in California, but is now offshore, somewhere. They are represented by Joseph Rosen of Pollack & Rosen in Florida.

Midland Funding Company bought my debt from my Chase credit card in July of 2011; I was extremely ill, that year, suffering from a neurological disorder which rendered me unable to go outside for many months, and, later in that year, I contracted spinal meningitis and was hospitalized for a week.

A friend was caring for my pets and my shopping and cooking. I had to stop my part time job in beginning of 2011 due to my neurological disorder; I only receive social security disability; with rent, food, still paying off a car, I had to phone 2 companies to tell them about my illness and that I will be having trouble paying for several months; the first company was my pre-paid funeral arrangement contract; they were nice enough, to settle the contract with me.

I also spoke with a supervisor from Chase Manhattan Bank, trying to explain my illness, and that I only had social security and could no longer work my part time job. I said I would send them as much as I could, which I did for several months in 2011; then I called again to tell Chase that I didn't have enough money to send them, and, could I send them, $5.00 in good faith, a month, until I got better. They refused and just kept adding enormous amounts of interest, my $2600. account turned in to over $8600 due to interest. Then in July 2011, Midland bought the debt.

I was harassed by several telephone calls a day, and, threatening letters. I was very ill, and just could not even think straight enough to figure out a course of action. Beginning in September of 2012, they tried to serve me with supoenas, intermittantly, over a period of 2 years; one day, some woman was banging on my apartment windows, yelling out my name, went in to the management office, came back out and continued banging and yelling; she left, and I opened the door; she left the supeona on the ground.

I called Mr. Joseph Rosen, trying to explain to him my debilitating illness and that I only have a checking account with my disability social security funds; I said, to him, it is against the law for him to try and take my social security since he wasn't representing a government agency, and that I had no assets. He was just so unempathetic, and, started yelling on the phone saying 'it doesn't matter, you have to pay'!

A lawyer wrote a motion to dismiss in July 2014 since they gave no information to back their suit. Two months later, I received a large envelope, copies of the revised complaint and copies of why, as they said, I had "enriched myself" at the expense of Chase. My lawyer reiterated what I already knew, that they cannot take my social security, but perhaps they could take my car, a cheap, used 2005.

I always checked the online case at my county clerk of court's site; and, nothing for the next year; until, I just happened to look online, and saw that Joseph Rosen filed a Motion for Default on me on August 3, 2015. Again, I saw my lawyer. Joseph Rosen is supposed to send me a copy of that motion, they did not.

I have read stories about Midland Funding, online, of how they take advantage of elderly people who do not necessarily know what is going on, or young single mothers; they get a judgement and put a lien on people's bank accounts. Then people have to jump through all kinds of hoops to get their social security money back and pay extra money for checks they have written and bounced.

Midland Funding, and their lawyer representative feed off of the elderly, the sick, young single women with children. I am now in the end stage of renal disease, and will be starting dialysis; my healthcare is Medicare, and, I will have to pay what Medicare does not pay for. I am turning 65, and I am very ill, with no family, except my niece and son who live thousand of miles away from me, and are struggling to take care of themselves.

Midland Funding and their representative lawyer, Joseph Rosen of Pollack & Rosen, Florida lawyers, are 'blood suckers', money is their only god. I have to continue being stressed out by this lawsuit which only makes my kidney disease worse. a note: I received an offer for a Chase credit card the other day!!!
