ALFA customer backed into my parked vehicle causing damage to right rear passenger door, roof. and back quarter panel. Police report checked insurance cover through ALFA as coverage is required by Georgia Law. Initially, without checking computer records the local ALFA agent denied that the customer was hers, then tried to deny the driver was her customer. She handed back the accident report without looking at it. A visit to another ALFA agent across town confirmed that the vehicle was insured by ALFA through the (first) ALFA agent.
I filed a complaint with the Georgia Insurance commissioner's office and they contacted ALFA to intervene. However, Ithe insurance commissioner may be an insurance advocate rather than a consumer protection service.
As a result of this complaint, I got a call from ALFA Claims (brentwood TN). After recording my statement the representative told me that the vehicle insurance cancelled on the day prior to the accident (Saturday) and was reinstated on the day after the accident (Monday). The State of Georgia was not notified of the cancellation as required by law, but ALFA suggested they will deny my claim. Does this sound like Insurance Fraud or just a convenient circumstance for ALFA?
