I worked for Ernest Luke at Mesquite Motorsports from March 2013 until May 2013. I quit because he wasn't paying me what he owed me due to his partner supposedly running off with the money. He managed to recover a small portion of the money, but needed that to keep the business running. Being the understanding person that I am, i gave him time to get back on his feet so that he can catch up and pay me and then I would possibly go back to work again once he could guarantee me a paycheck on a regular basis.
Every month from May 2013 until November 2013 he kept me updated on where he stood with his finances. He would tell me about all of the sales and repairs he supposedly did and how much money he was making off of them. Every month it was the same story of him being able to pay me in a couple of weeks followed by some lame excuse as to why he couldn't pay me at that time. By the end of November 2013, I tried to set up a payment plan where he could pay me a little bit at a time until he was caught up, but he kept insisting that he was going to be able to pay me "any day now". By January 2014, I informed him that I was going to file a claim with the Labor Commissioner. The only thing he did was apologize and said he understood. By March, I received confirmation from the Labor Commissioner that they ruled in my favor and that my case was being sent to a collection agency so that they could send him notices every month telling him that he owes me.
It is now August 2014 and I still have not received a single cent from him. I'm not the only employee he has ripped off. There have been several customers and businesses in town he has ripped off as well. I don't know if there is anything more I can do to help my situation, but I wanted to get the word out so that nobody else falls victim to his lies.
