With more than several requests to fix a 2 page long list of things wrong within the house ( outlets do not work in over half the house, broken sink, broken oven, fridge problems, an outdated and unworking garage, broken windows... ) that was to be fixed before my arrival into the house. Months later, Merit Property Management and the owner of the house refuse to fix all that is wrong with the house.
Merit is now requiring me to fix the house on my own financial accord. Not only do they take excessivly long to respond to emails, phone calls, application process- the entire company seems unwilling and unfriendly towards my needs.
Merit Property seems to just take rent each month and not go forth with things that the previous tennant had told them were broken as well!
I viewed a home yesterday, January 26, 2015, and filled out the application and submitted my $50 fee. I was advised today, that after processing my application, they took the property off the market for another month. As I have already given notice to my current landlord, waiting is not an option and trusting this company after this is also not an option. I called Keith Kohl, the manager of the office and requested a refund. He advised that if the application was processed he could not refund my money. I advised him that my application was still pending the Employment Verification- he refused a refund. This was no error of mine nor was this my fault. They should refund my $50 application fee. I believe that they are using unfair and deceptive business practices and further investigation would uncover there is a much bigger issue here.
