MediQuip International sent me an invoice for January and March medical supplies for $321.00 in April 2014. I immediately contacted them as I had never received anything from them in 2014. I have contacted them via telephone each and every month I received the invoice. The first few months, I was told the matter was being looked into. Throughout the past 5 months, I have learned that they cannot even prove that they had shipped these materials to me as there are no notes in my record nor tracking numbers. They threatened to have this moved to a collections agency. I have an "excellent" credit rating and have used this company since early 2013, so I was incredibly shocked and shaken by their stance. I was even yelled at by this firm at one point.
Getting nowhere with MediQuip, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about this billing fraud. In the companies response they lied numerous times and accused me of things that are simply false, all to get me to pay for products/supplies never received. They stated the following in their response to my BBB complaint, most of which were never heard about from them and all of them are completely false: 1) That I had not contacted their office until I had received notification from my insurance company that my deductible had not been met. This is completely false! I never received a such a notification, nor did I talk about something that never existed. Again, I had contacted them after receiving my first invoice in April for January and March products/supplies. 2) That the reason the invoice is due is because I had not met my deductible. This is false! They never even sent me the products/supplies! 3) That they were shipping me products/supplies on a monthly basis. This is also false! By them billing me for January and March, their invoicing alone makes no sense in accordance with this statement. 4) They further claimed that they had offered me to ship the products/supplies not receiveded for a discounted rate. Are you kidding me! They basically admitted that I never received the supplies as they cannot prove they even sent them and still want me to buy them at a discounted rate. This is absolutely fraudelent billing as they are trying to force me to pay them! Furthermore, I was never offered a darn thing.
I did state in my BBB response to these lies, that their offer presented to BBB as if it was communicated to me prior, was completely unacceptable and that after 5 months of frustrations and angst over this fraudulent bill, I would not be willing to pay MediQuip any funds for them shipping the products/supplies. This BBB case is still pending.
I had contacted the firm in March, stating that I had moved and gave them my new medical insurance information, however, I did specify that I did not need any materials and that they can close my account for now. The entire reason I called them was because I never received anything in 2014 and wanted to make certain that they had not shipped anything. They had confirmed that they had not. There was no mention of a January shipment (I had moved in February), no mention of a February shipment, nor March at the time I contacted them. Then the very next month I receive this completely falsified bill for products/supplies never received.
I have contacted the Texas Attorney General's office and have completed a complaint form as based on MediQuip's false accusations, fraudulent billing and length of time this has gone on, I am of the opinion that I am not the only person that can possibly be experiencing such issues with MediQuip.
In conclusion, they will not change my balance to zero, eventhough they've admitted to not being able to know if supplies were event sent. This will have a very negative affect on my "excellent" credit rating. They continue to tell me the invoice is to be paid in full. They have been extremely unprofessional and have a "bullying-like" attitude. They are forcing me to pay something that is fraud! Billing me for nothing received is fraud! I'm at my wits end and do not know where else to turn. I am shocked by their stance and it is so incredibly wrong.
Please let me know if there is another agency I may turn to as this is completely unfair and unjust, not to mention very illegal!
