I did contact the Author House about possible publication of my book in Spanish since it had already been published in English and there has never been a complait from either the readers, writers, companies or any other professionals. The Author House then sent me a contract with all rules, regulations, prices, etc.
With the assistance of my translator we worked as hard as possible for us and fortunately we were able to finish the entire draft, correct it for both APA style, grammer, how to carefully concel the ID of my participants, etc. I also did pay the Author House up front - they ask - for the full cost of publishing my book.
We did all the above in addition to the fact that we were also carefully in terms of follow 100% the requirements from Author House. For my surprise Author House kept changing "the rules of the game" that is asking me to change the entire draft so many times and each time I did resubmitted the "new" revised draft they continue asking for other changes to the absurd of instruct me to change portion of the data I had collected and also for me to concel my own name.
I, off course not only vehemently refused to change/falsify any part of the real data but also I requested the full refund of the money I paid them.
Just today I received a reply from them telling me:
"I got a feedback from our team that we are unable to process refund for your project for the reason that the publishing package was bought for over a year."
I did reply to them by stating: "Interesting . . . you state that you cannot refund the amount I already paid - in good faith - because 1 year has passed BUT in the contract I did agree about there is NOT a single passage/paragraph which states the if for whatever reason the publisher will have to refund the writer such has to be done within a time frame of 12 months."
OBS: About the payment method I used might had been a Visa Card but I must check with my Bank to tell you for sure.
