I COULD HAVE DIED!! Please read this full review and seriously consider going somewhere else for service. If I could give less than one star rating I would!!!
DO NOT take your bike to this place. They do very poor work. I had them special order tires for me and was told they would call when they came in, Never got that call, I had to call and ask several times if they were in.
So, I took my bike in for new tires, first I was told that I would have it by the end of the next day, when I called to check on the status I was told it would not be done until the following day. I told them I was told it would be done that day and they did a rush job to get it done.
Upon getting it back, the mechanic did not even test drive the bike, he pulled it out of the shop and looped around the parking lot and parked it.
I got on and headed home only to find out that the rear brakes were not functioning, there was no pressure, this caused me to almost run into the back of a car.
Then when I got home I noticed the front tire was not put back on the bike correctly. There was about 1/8 inch play in the front wheel from side to side causing the caliper to rub on the disc, when pulling into my driveway the caliper locked up the front wheel due to the play and I almost dumped my bike.
I fixed this my self and the bike sat in the garage for several days until I went for a ride on the weekend. Durring the 4-5 hour ride I noticed a clicking and a grinding coming from the differential. I pulled over and checked it out,,, the rear wheel also had play in it and the caliper was rubbing the disc on the back as well.
I called a couple of times and was told I would receive a call from the service manager because he was not available. no call came so I called back and finally got to talk to the service manager who told me he would refund the cost of the labor since it was not done right and would call me back that day. I never received this call (surprise!!). I called back the next morning and was then told that I was not going to get the refund because I didn't get a hold of them the day of the service,,,mind you this was at 6 pm when they closed that I finally was able to pick up my bike from service and when I did try to call I never received the call back like i was told.
The manager then tried to tell me he saw the mechanic test drive the bike and everything was working properly... not true, there service manager was in the office when the bike was brought out of the shop... these people are full of lies. He also tried to tell me that they told me I needed rear brakes and that is why they were not working.(this was not even mentioned, the only thing that was said to me by anyone was when the mechanic gave the keys to me was "that is a nice color, it kind of matches that bike out front" and he walked away) Funny thing about this story is after pumping the pedal a few times the rear brakes worked...
Bottom line, Find a different shop to take your bike to if you don't want to die due to lack of mechanical expertise of this shop. Had I not been a seasoned rider the trip home could have ended in a crash and possible death of a biker, brakes are rather important in my book. I will never go back there and suggest you think twice before giving Maxey's your business.
