Massage Envy Spa Reviews

Now that is not the case, and I have actually moved back home. In reorganizing my funds and trying my best to save money wherever possible, I decided that cancelling my membership would be a good idea. I was told at the time of sign up that I could cancel anytime as long as I give a 30 day notice, and I would have to pay half of that months payment just to cover the therapist. Okay, fine. But, when I called to cancel, she informs me that I can only cancel IF I have moved 25 miles+ away from any Massage Envy location OR if I get a doctors note stating I cannot receive massages any longer. Again, ok.. fine. My home that I recently moved back into IS 25 miles away from any massage envy location. When I tell the manager this, she says well no, ----- the city you live in says it is only 3.6 miles from any location. I find this hard to believe, but I say ok but MY PHYSICAL home is 25 miles away. I live a little further into the city than just what the zip code is! But she isnists that they can only base it off of zip code. How does that make sense when MY HOME is where I live, where I would have to drive there from.. And that is 25 miles away!!

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to fight this? Should I contact someone that would be able to help legally? I am working with their terms, shouldn't they pay the same respect and play by their terms too?

I just got cancelled for the THIRD time in less than three months! I like the "therapist" I've seen (seen a couple different ones), but they are just not reliable! Last year I had a car accident and wasn't able to make my appointment and they still charged me for the missed appointment... This charge was congruent with what it said in my contract, so I sucked that one up. BUT...

On May 25, about 2 hours before my appointment I got a call... "xx is having car trouble and won't be able to be here for your appointment." After I ranted for a few minutes, I finally got them to agree to comp me by adding 30 minutes to my account - whoopiee... at least they "gave" me something for my trouble. I felt like cancelling, but I decided to reschedule since I THOUGHT they were trying to accommodate me.

The next available appointment with that therapist was in July (yes, it was May, but I thought he was worth waiting for... ). July finally came and the morning before my appointment I got my confirmation call. I was excited to finally use the service again... well, that afternoon I got a second call - "he was in a car accident and can't be here for your appointment... UUUGGGGH - ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I had numerous months on my account, and wanted to cancel my membership, but they convinced me to use another therapist - the guy I had been seeing was really good, but clearly wasn't reliable, so I agreed to try someone else....

I actually had a pretty good experience with two subsequent appointments with the new therapist - I met with her twice in July in order to use up some of my banked massages).... things were looking like they might be ok. Not so fast...

Yesterday afternoon I got the usual confirmation call for my appointment at noon today... all was well.. HOWEVER - I got a call at 9am that she is "really sick and cannot come in today." I'm SO done with Massage Envy... the person that called me tried to appease me by suggesting that I talk with her manager, but then had someone else call me back... I'm not sure who that second person was, but she proceeded to argue with me and tell me that the front desk has no control over when the therapists come in or don't. I understand things happen, but THREE times with two different therapists in THREE months? REALLY - is that how you run a business? They have no contingency - at least not at the center I've been using... so no big deal if they cancel your appointment, but heaven forbid you don't show up for an appointment - they make sure they get you coming and going... I'm truly DONE with them and even if I have to sue them I WILL pursue getting my money back - obviously I can't use their services if they continually cancel my appointments, so now they have to return the 4 months worth of payments in my account there! DONE.

The experience was good at first, the first 3 massages were by a person who had been out of school about a year and really cared about what you wanted. They left and it went straight downhill First you are supposed to get 50 minuets 5 minutes consultation (which does no good) 5 minutes cool down and get dressed, most of the time I had to wait at least 5 minutes past the appointment time (even if i was early) sometimes 10miniuts in their little waiting room.

Then I would have what they called consulting at which the masseur simply says yes, okay, and then leaves you to get undressed and get under the covers, they might not come back for 10 minutes, your thinking they forgot about you. Now the rub, did they forget about the consultation or did they just ignored you. Then they stop you look at you clock it's only been 40 minutes, when I said something they would respond that you were late. (I found you do not argue with stupid people they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.) So about 3 massages with a person who talked more than worked, it seems they would get into some story and forget what they were supposed to be doing.

The next person didn't listen to a single word I said and simply gave me a rub, supposed to be the best deep tissue masseuse there, it was simply a rub. I decided to seek a professional somewhere else allow the contract to expire and call it a bad lesson. By the way they deduct it directly from your credit card. WHAT, the contract doesn’t expire one year after the signing as was stated when i signed it, it automatically renews, what a SCAM.

Do not sign anything with these people they want your money they may have licenses with the state of Georgia to do massages but they are far from professional.

I ended up going to a professional located in Buford. What a difference it is when someone knows what they’re doing.

Use this company at your own risk.

My sister transferred a massage of hers from her membership to me they said there would only be a 10.00 transfer fee. we made 2 appointments for 1 for an hour and hers for 1/2 hr upon arriving, she asked if I could get the 1 1/2 hr massage too, they said yes, we went in and got our massages, when she was done, hers was only 1 hr, mine when I came out of the room, they told me I owed an extra 20.00... really! why did they not tell me when I said is there an extra charge! this is my second time at Massage envy unhappy the first time too. I will not ever go back...bad costumer service!

Let’s face it there are nearly 200 reports about the predatory nature of this company listed on ripoff report… That alone should be enough for you not to sign up. But for those who think that these are just nitpicky clients who are looking for a reason to complain read my experience and decide for yourself.

Massage envy is a national franchise that spends a great deal of money building out very nice strip center massage "therapy" clinics. They advertise in a huge marketing blitz when they first open, $39 massages which everyone knows is just an introductory rate. When you come in there is an almost a 1990s health club fitness style high-pressure sales approach to sign a one-year commitment... Just tell them no. Tell them you would like to come in for a few massages and then decide if it's worth it. If they tell you how much money you're wasting tell them that you don't care about the additional cost and that’s if it’s a problem you're more than happy to go someplace else.

That’s what I should've done but didn't… I signed the contract in 2008, today is June 9, 2014 and I have been charged over $50 a month every month for services I don't use. Why don't I just cancel? Simple, I will lose over $1700 in prepaid massages which they make nearly impossible to transfer to friends and family even though I've already paid for them. Think about that, they charged me every month for massage that I don't use and when I want to use it there are all kinds of restrictions. Companies are permitted to have their own rules and if you choose to agree to them then you're bound by them… I understand that. But what about dealing with the mind-numbing incompetence of the incredibly lowbrow people that they employ?

At least five times in as many years I have arrived for the appointment only to be told that "you must have misunderstood, your appointment is not until tomorrow". The first time this happened I was annoyed but let's be honest mistakes happen. When it happens repeatedly it simply obnoxious. What's truly obnoxious is that they don't even offer a perfunctory apology, they basically stand there and say you made a mistake. The problem you face is that the three people standing behind the desk had a collective IQ of around 130 and probably have to remind each other to breath or they might die. You might think I'm trying to be funny however these are truly stupid people.

The most egregious problem is that much like Walmart or any other discount store when you pay less, they pay less. If you are so fortunate as to find a qualified therapist who actually cares about their job you will quickly see them depart for a better opportunity at a more legitimate salon. Let's face it; a one-hour deep tissue massage simply cost more than 60 bucks. If you're paying $60 for massage therapist might be making $20 and is relying on your gratuity like a waitress. At this particular location there are a couple of therapists that are truly exceptional but very miserable. Getting appointment with them is almost impossible unless you don't work and can come in for massage at 10 AM or 2 PM. So you will always be at the mercy of the front desk assigning you to whatever therapist started three days earler and has no idea what they're doing.

Just like brand-new restaurant that is the hottest thing at the moment once poor management sets in and the good employees leave you wind up with trash. I don't mean to be pretentious; I don't want a scumbag massaging me. Only after I became dissatisfied with the service did I realize that part of the problem is that a employ therapists with absolutely no experience right out of school. Would you go to a dental college to get your teeth fixed? At least they're actually doctors or will be soon… These people have no idea what they're doing and still believe that they can cure cancer by getting a massage. You know, by releasing toxins and such lol.

Here's the bottom line, don't ever sign a long-term commitment for services. Any company that requires its knows you will leave them unless they trap you. The gymI belong to cost $75 a month and they don't require any sort of contract. As long as you pay you’re welcome to come. Health clubs who require a one-year contract are fading away as they should. If you like the product you buy it, just like if you like the landscaper you'll keep them. If massage envy provided a valuable service people would voluntarily go and not be forced to the predatory contract.

So in summary here's the deal… Cell phone companies don't even require contracts anymore unless they're giving you a phone for free. Anyone requiring you to sign a contract for their service knows that you will be unhappy with it and will likely go someplace else. If you can't use every single one of the massages you paid for you will lose it if you cancel the program. I am going to walk away from nearly $2,000 worth of prepaid massages, don't do what I did… You’re not saving money, you're wasting it.

Pressured me into a contract. Lady at the front desk told me i would have 30 days to cancel if i had second thoughts, i even repeated it back to her cause it sounded to good to be true and she confirmed it. Then a week later when i called to confirm they told me that it was incorrect and i was stuck with the contract. Read the fine print cause they WILL try to screw you.
