I was gifted with a Massage Envy gift card for a free massage. I made he appointment and told the person when I made the appointment that I had a gift card for a free massage. The individual who gifted me with the card purchased the card as a free massage.
Once the massage was over I went to present the gift card and was told that in addition to the gift card I owed 69.00 dollars and that the total was $99 for the free massage. This would make the gift card only worth $30 dollars. Totally unacceptable. I complained and questioned the amount but was told that the card was only worth $39 dollars which was not correct - I paid the balance and told them I would never step foot in the salon again and would be sure to warn everyone I knew not to go there. They said the $39 massage is only for members.
When I arrived home I had a message from the salon saying that they spoke with their manager and would refund me the $60.00. If I hadn't complained I would have been out $60 dollars for a massage that was not worth $60 and certainly not up to the spas that charge $99. What a gimmick. They did refund me the money - but definitely the purchase of the massage was for relaxation and I left there not relaxed. At least they did the right thing and refunded the money.
