I went to Message Envy for my first message. Great value of 39.99. After my message, I was talked into doing a monthly message and what sealed the deal i was told I could pay out of my FSA and it was covered with my insurance company. I was also told many people from my company use their FSA account to pay for their messages. Great Sold! Fast Forward. My insurance company denied all payments and suspended my card. My insurance carrier is United Health Care. I called Message Envy in Burlington to discuss these denied charges. They told me Message Envy was on a restricted list and the payments shouldnt of come out of my FSA account. I need to supply a doctor's note to clear it up. I have circulation issues and messages were recommended by my doctor so getting this letter would not be a issue. After that conversation with my insurance company, I called Message Envy explained my FSA card was suspended until I provided a doctors appt.
The manager told me due to the issue of my card being suspended she would put my account on hold until it was cleared up. She advised i call back to let them know when it was all set. This never happened , my account was not put on hold and a charge posted to my FSA account. I called message envy to discuss. The manager Jennifer told me that "no one would every say that at message envy" she said I needed to fill out a freeze form and that was the only way a account would be put on hold". Basically calling me a lier. I asked how I can cancel this account. She told me there is no way to cancel my membership until the 12months is up. When I signed up, I was told I could cancel at anytime, no issue. This is your typical switch and bait. I am now stuck with paying them another 4 months. So basically they can do whatever they want, say whatever they want to get a customer on the phone becuase once you sign a contract you are stuck. I asked Jennifer if there is any other way out of this and to cancel. She told me NO!
Attempted to cancel contract with Massage Envy Feb/Mar 2014. They would only allow me to suspend for 6 months. I haven't used there services for over a year. Agreement was I would pick up payments in Sept.to pay out the 6 months left to my 1 year "contract". They are continuing to bill me and telling me that the original contract stated I signed up for auto renewal.
MASSAGE ENVY IN SOTUH BEACH FLORIDA IS THE WORST!!!!!
I joined Massage Envy in South Beach on 17th and Meridan Ave to relax with an occasional massage. What I got was the exact opposite. The runaround from the Owner John Krutchick, who has his "girl" get on the phone to feild my complaints. I tried to make 10 appointments and mostly they never have an open appointment for me on my schedule. They want me to be on their schedule. Ok That I understand so I ask if I can freeze my monthly fee until I use the massages I have accrued. Answer - "I must use them in 30 day!" I reply, but I cant even get one appointment in how can I get 14 in 30 days!
"Well you have a contract" True, and I would imagine they will let anyone sign up for the monthly contacts as they trap you in a "contract" But hey I'm fair, I ask, can I offer gift cards to my friends so I can at least use the massages (they do sell gift cards). Answer NO It's not policy. My reponse, I got a gift card and thats how I got here in the first place!
What con artists. They preach customer service, they act in an entirely different manner. They talk the talk, but dont walk the walk. An besides, the massage are kind of terrible as well.
Be warned, be careful, steer clear! With all the legit massage locations in SOBE, this one is the one to avoid at all costs!!
But they are very kind and sereneand convincing with smiles and offers for a glass of water, right up until you sign on the dotted line! Then your trapped, screwed and no massage will make that right! Avoid signing with this MASSAGE ENVY in a contract.
MASSAGE ENVY IN SOTUH BEACH FLORIDA IS THE WORST!!!!!
My husband and I were loyal members for NINE years at this Massage Envy. In May of 2014 husband Hand Carried a letter to cancel said memberships. It has been 10 months and they are still calling and sending bills. I have talked to numerous employees at this location and today we visited them in person. Still they will not cancel and leave us alone. Beware. According to the contract the easiest way to cancel is Upon Death. Read the fine print before ever even considering this chain. Apparently good customers are not wanted here. The lack of professionalism and customer concern is zero.
The staff at Massage Envy is very nice to work with, I will give them that. The problem I had is that when you sign up for a once a month massage if you dont use them you keep building them up so I tried to cancel my membership after my year contract was up and found out that I had 30 days to use my remaining massages ( about 4 ). Basically I lost out on 1.5 hours of paid massage,( I called in two days late )2014-10-08 which I know is in the contract. So go to your local place to get a massage they will not rip you off.
Other issues I have with Massage Envy is that a 1 hour Massage is only really 45 to 50 minutes as the include the time for dressing etc.
I was on time for all my massages and the massage therapist was late a few times which meant my time was shorter.
The thearpists were more like students than pros. I would recomend using local companies rather than a chain.
I joined Massage Envy in Oceanside as a Member in January, 2007 and moved out of the area to Anaheim, California in June 2009. At which time I attempted to cancel my Membership and was told I had thirty (30) days to use all of my prepaid visits which could only be used at the Oceanside location and I could not transfer or give away any of my prepaid visits.
It has been extremely difficult for me to drive out to Oceanside and I have been forced to continue paying the monthly Membership of $59.00 which just went up to $59.99 without any notification of an increased fee per month to maintain my Membership in order not to lose all the Prepaids I already had on file.
I have spoken to staff numerous times expressing my difficulty with maintaining Membership trying to resolve this problem and continued to receive the same response, I had to cancel my Membership in writing and would have thirty (30) days to use all my prepaid visits. Which is impossible!!
Finally, I was told I could use another location and just recently was told that I can transfer my prepaid visits for a fee of $10.00 per visit.
It has now been five (5) years and I currently have over fifty (50) prepaid visits totaling over $3,000.00 If I had been given these options back in June of 2009, I would have never accumulated this many prepaid visits.
I sent them a certified Letter addressing this issue and got no response and they hit my account again for $59.99. When I contacted them by phone and spoke to Janae, First, I was told I only had 13 Prepaids and after disputing that I had 52 Prepaids and had a Printout from them evidencing that, they finally agreed and credited my account. Then, she told me they would give me Gift Cards for all the Prepaids (which is an additional $10 for each Prepaid) which I declined. Then Janae, told me to do whatever I had to do. This is a RIPOFF!!!
I made an appointment at this business for an hour long massage. I unfortunately had a family emergency day of appointment and called to reschedule for same day or next day. I was informed I would be charged 50% of massage fee EVEN if I rescheduled. I understand wanting to be paid for your time but this policy is wrong. Policies like this are indicative of a business that has no interest in building repeat customer relationships.
Do not sign a contract! Canceled mine after 1 yr and they claim wasn't canceled. Seems to be a common trend with this company. Now 3 unused sessions I am not comfortable using due to the lack of professional employees that work there. Corp won't help with any concerns either. When called they were rude on phone. What a great legal way to steal money from hard working people.
I had been going through a tough time with my son passing away right before the holidays, so a friend gave me a nice gift certificate for Christmas 2013 to help me relax and unwind from all the stress and depression. It was for an hr massage, aroma threapy, with included the tip. I finally got around to using it Wed April 28th, 2014.
I called and made the appt. Gave my name and was asked if I had a gift certificate and I said yes. I was told to come about 15 minutes early to check in. I arrived at 4:45 for my 5pm appointment. I was greeted by a young pretty friendly girl. She handed me sevral pages of paperwork to fill out. I laughed and asked, ""Is the doctor in?"" I said that because they wanted a boat load of information that I did not feel was relivant to just getting a massage. I checked the boxs that I wanted my shoulder, back, feet and hands massaged. The paperwork was very detailed asking me how often I got massages and if I could, how many would I get if cost was not a factor. I checked once a month I think. I left my glasses in the car along with all my cash since I was not supposed to need any. I was having a heard time seeing the paperwork. I was coming for a relaxing time not a test exam. Then, I was asked to follow the receptionist into another room with dim lights and a water fountain which was soothing.
After a 3 year + membership, we tried to terminate. We have several massages paid for but not used. We can freeze our membership and use them later when we unfreeze, but will then be charged another month's fee. They won't refund the money & we can't use the massages! RIPOFF.
