First of all, let me explain who I am. I own a family run appliance service business. We have an impeccable reputation, and after much soul searching, I have decided that Marcone, is a company with out an impeccable reputation, therefore, I am cutting my ties with them. I was just contacted by this company, who I use on a basis, but not regularly, as their pricing is out of line with their competition, I check their pricing regularly, but since I rarely purchase anything from them, they have closed my account for too many clicks on their website and not enough purchases to warrant that many clicks. I am fine with the closure of my account. I do not owe these folks any money, my account is in good standing with them, and I regularly use and pay for services from one of their subsidiaries, software which they also own. So far, it appears that my software is not being affected. What my problem is, is that they say I need to purchase "X" number of dollars from them in order to use their website, and they called here, to my office to use high pressure, arrogant tactics, to get me to purchase over inflated items from them.
Thank God for Windows. I have always been able to shop for the best prices on parts and supplies, for my customers and also for my stock. If this company would bring their pricing in line with their competition, I would consider using them. How sad they have pissed of one of their clients and refuse to do right by us.
I suggest any company who is thinking of doing business with this national supplier of appliance parts and supplies, look a little further. They are a major rip off. Rarely have I found prices any where close to what they charge. Please note that it is darn near impossible to reach any one with any power at this company.
I have been working in the appliance field since the late 1960's. I have a lot of experience, attend regular service schools, and have even attended at least 2, maybe 3, Marcone Conventions, at considerable cost, I might add.
This company also competes with their own customers, by "offering" their customers an "800" number that is published with that company's name for parts sales, which are filled by Marcone, who actually handles the entire transaction, and then "their wholesale client gets a nominal "fee" for this service. This is a conflict of interest.
2 other direct conflicts of interest are that Marcone is the primary parts distributor for more than one Home warranty company, and those companies, who have contracts for service work with the home warranty companies, make absolutely zero profit on any parts sales to the home warranty companies, and they also are the primary distributor of "in Warranty" parts for at least one appliance manufacturer that I am aware of, and you are forced to have an open account with Marcone, in order to be able to provide service for that manufacturer something my firm cannot do, even if I wanted to, because we have no ability to purchase from Marcone, now.
I now cannot check this company's pricing, because they have cut me off of their website. This is not how you keep your customers. I will make sure that everyone I know in the appliance business, quits using them, as they are a rip off. Websites, by their very nature, should be open to all "potential" clients, so that Marcone can show that they are a "fine, upstanding company, who values their clients and who would do anything to keep them. Sadly, this is not the case.
