This company is horrible, not only are the D2D reps a scam but customer service is even worse. I am informed on how fixed ans variable rates work, however the D2D reps claim they are from the utility company and wear fake hard hats and utility badges. When I called customer service to file a complaint they informed me that they are 3rd marketing companies and they can't do anything but just take my complaint down. This company doesn't have any integrity, I would never do any type of business with them. The customer service reps are extremely rude and the D2D reps are pushy and get very defensive when I asked them to leave. Worst experience ever! Do not trust this company, there is a reason why they aren't accredited anymore.
Around 4pm I was sleeping I work nights and usually get up at 8pm I think I hear my buzzer go but I ignore it. Then it goes off two more times so I figure I better get it. I buzz them in and look through the peep hole to see two people a man and a women decked out in reflective vests one wearing a hat and clipboards. I open my door thinking there is an emergency. They start telling me that I'm getting way overcharged on my energy bill, half asleep and concerned I'm worrying about a gas leak or some kind of error happening at national grid my energy provider. I'm like "what's wrong" and they start asking to see my energy bill. I tell them I don't have one I use paperless but they are projecting on me that I'm in trouble and now I feel like I need to furnish some proof or something so I let them in and awkwardly look up my account at this point red flags start going up in my head but I'm either too dumb or too tired to put it together. I thought they came here specifically to me because my next bill was gonna be something outrageous and they came to figure out what's going on.
The girl talks into a phone or walkie talkie "yes we're at his apartment now". I bring up my bill and I say I owe 44 something and the guy starts asking if I can go somewhere that's shows usage. "There go there, go scroll down down, there see that" he points to some number on the screen I don't know "that's blahblahblah but it should be mwahablahblah" is what it sounded like to me at this point. He starts saying that I'm going to get a bill next month and there's nothing they can do about that but they can lower the next one, he says that "I have to choose a supplier" making it sound that the reason why I'm getting charged so high is because I didn't pick one. This whole time I thought they were my power company pick one. They start showing me a paper and how all I have to do is initial hear and hear and hear and hear and sign hear everything will be rosie. Now I'm just all confused annoyed and worried. I keep asking them questions like, what does this mean, what's that, so your not national grid, why didn't national grid say I need to choose a supplier, and on and on it went. I googled major energy which was enough for me to at least see the company existed. I wasn't feeling good about any of this however and was afraid I was being scammed. After about half an hour I relent. I wasn't all there, their carefully prepared statements and answers were too much and I was too confused about the whole affair. As if signing and initializing the paper wasn't bad enough he called someone who I then had to speak with and answer questions. After they had finally left I was able to collect my thoughts. I realized looking at the papers they game me there were only going to have an affect on my supply portion of the bill which was only 6 dollars. I realized the all the misdirection and hard sell was to keep me off balance and confuse me into Signing up. A little more searching online found out only complaints about major energy and their homepage. Within 10 minutes of signing I regretted it. I detached the cancellation slip in the paperwork and faxed it to them the next day. A month later I had a 70 dollar bill for the same usage and realization that they didn't cancel. I called my energy company told them to remove them as supplier and they also had an option to put a block on from others trying to.be my supplier. All in all I'm most angry over how stupid I was to listen to them but their sales practices are obscenely disingenuous. If they truly had a great service to offer at a great price they wouldn't be trying to trick people into Signing up.
Major Energy's third party marketer deceptively promised my father cheaper bills on his gas and electric. He believed them and signed up. From his first bill to his last, the prices were not competitive and nor were they cheaper than the going rate he previously had. I have filed a complaint with the PUC of PA which is still in process. Their customer service representatives are nothing but bullies. I was offered $250 to dismiss my complaint as though that was going to buy me off! ANY Major Energy Respond Power or whomever in the likes that comes to your door, SEND THEM AWAY!!!
Their marketing flyer shows all sorts of comments that say they reduce your bill, but this is not true. They also show their pride in donating money to Alex's Lemondade Fund, a children's cancer foundation. I can see how they do this with the excess money they overcharge their customers.
I repeat - DO NOT SIGN UP WITH MAJOR ENERGY!!! They lie about the price of their gas. If you are interested in more details, leave me a post. I will gladly fill you in!
