Signed my contract in july 2014 with majestic home remodeling and was promised that the project would be done in 5-7 weeks About end of august/early sept) and take about 5-7 days. Gave them an initial deposit by credit card. They agreed that i did not have to pay anything else until the job was completed to my satisfaction.
As i followed up in mid-august, they promised 4 dates in aug/sept/oct and all were missed. Finally work started until oct 27th after pestering them 15 times. They then wanted another payment to help pay their vendors. We reluctantly gave them half of what they asked again by credit card.
From oct 27th through november 25th, they came 8-9 times. A few windows are still not done due to wrong measurement or they forgot to order. We have have 3 doors they did not even get to.
Talked to them 4-5 times in december 2014 to try to get a follow-up. Was told they would follow up in jan.
Called again jan 4, 2015. Left a message for owner or project manager to call back. They never called back.
Called again on feb 4th, 2015, their toll free and local phone numbers are now disconnected.
I engaged another contractor to finish my project. He said that the owner might still be trying to continue to do business but only using his personal hotmail email to communicate.
My lawyer says that i can consider that majestic have abandoned the project and i can consider the contract terminated and engage another contractor. I filed a payment dispute with credit card company to get my second installment back. At least that will help me finish the project without losing too much money.
Advice: use credit cards whenever possible with any contractor. If contractor won't take credit card, be wary. Avoid majestic home remodeling principals or anybody that might be related to them.
