We actually thought this place was pretty good, and would have recommended it other than the rude actions of their manager, 1 Week after I Checked out. The stay actually wasn't bad, other than some minor maintenance issues with The Pool, Etc.. Upon Checkout, the girl asked if everything was OK, and we mentioned that almost everything was, other than the Pool area being malodorous, unclean, etc.. She then proceeded to Check us out as normal, and we were OK with that.
The Next Week, we receive a survey invite, from Choice, the parent company of Mainstay. So i honestly answered the survey, thinking nothing of it. A Few Days Later, we get a nasty, rude, unsolicited email from the manager, basically calling us liars, and claiming that I never bought up any problem to the Checkout girl (blatantly a lie). Mind you, he sent me an unsolicited email that I didn't even ask for. And either his desk clerk was being dishonest, or he was, as we certainly did bring this problem up to the gal at Checkout, with my spouse as witness.
Then, when we responded that his desk clerk was being dishonest, he responded that he would contact his lawyer because of our emailing him, abusively. (Total fabrication....and to be real, he's the one who emailed us unsolictedly, and we were simply responding in a polite fashion....the email conversation is printed and saved). He further emailed that he wouldn't believe us, over his clerk, asking if we would believe a stranger over our spouse ( a bizarre comment that Im still not sure what he meant by). He then escalated to a verbally abusive email calling us dishonest, asking us to not publish any reviews or he will sue us, and claiming to have "blacklisted" us (like that was supposed to stop us from posting honest reviews). It seems that this guy can't take any criticism, as he attacked us, for a minor complaint we made.
We obviously contacted choice hotels about it, and they not only agreed with us, they also called his behavior inappropriate, and awarded us Bonus Points for our inconvenience. While This was appreciated, This isn't even what we were looking for.
We cannot tolerate rude behavior, especially from a manager. Managers are not supposed to call their customers liars (especially when they are NOT liars), and not supposed to send rude, unsolicited emails to customers, then act all touchy when someone responds. He can dish it out, but can't take it.
Further, I have been in contact with choice hotel, and while they are an independently owned franchisee, there are standards that have to be maintained. I hope choice revokes their franchise agreement. It is very rare that I write a negative review, but because of his behavior, it was certainly warranted. Please stay elsewhere.
