I signed up with the Los Angeles Times on the 15th of October. That Sunday came around, the 19th, no paper. I called the number and went through the automated system and reported my missing paper, and was informed it would be replaced within 90 minutes. I waited, still no paper. I called back, and spoke with someone from their outsourced customer service. They told me once again, I would receive a replacement in the next 90 minutes. I waited, still no paper. Being the first delivery, I just decided to cancel. I called back once again to their outsourced customer service, and had to speak with three different people before they "allowed" me to cancel. I requested a refund. They told me no money had been taken. I told them it had and they said it may take time to show up on their system. So I waited a couple days. I called back on the 23rd. I spoke with a woman who told me that I would receive a check in 28 days. Working in billing myself, I asked for the money to simply be refunded through the merchant directly to my card since that's what I used on the website to sign up. She informed me she would, and I would receive my refund in 5 business days. So I wait, here it is, the 31st, and still no refund. So, I call back, and a man tells me that a check will be mailed out in 28 days. I am furious and tell him I want it to be refunded directly to my card, to which he responds that he doesn't know what that means. I ask to speak to a supervisor, and he says none are available. So now I'm sitting here, no newspaper, my money being held for who knows how long. It's 10 dollars, but the point is, I did not receive anything for that 10 dollars, and it's become such a large issue to attain a refund. Not to mention, my personal and billing information are in the hands of a bunch of people from a third world country, and I have no way to make sure they remove my information, or keep it from being sold. Avoid them at all costs!!!!! Bring jobs back to America LA Times and maybe this crap won't happen.
