This guy stopped me while I was walking from 70th street to 71th on 1st Avenue at 12:00pm. I was heading towards NewYork-Presbyterian and I was caught off guard as I had my headphones in. He asked directions for the theatre department at Hunter College. I told him I didn't know and proceeded to exactly show him where to go on my iPhone (I always do this when it comes to older people). He seems to be in his 50s or 60s and he quickly said I have a great voice and asks if I've ever considered doing voiceovers. I said no but that I am always complimented on how young I look. He continues to talk about how I have a great voice for cartoons and how he is a casting agent. He asks if I have 5 minutes to spare, I said yes, and he asked me to sit down with him. He introduces himself as Lori says he's from the Cosby Show as one of Theo's friends, asks if he looks familiar and he works with viacom. He called a number and has me listen to ensure it's real. Pulls out his wallet and shows an old Nickelodeon card as well as other business cards mentioning how he knows a lot of big people in the entertainment world. I asked if I could google him and he said "No us celebrities don't like to get google," I asked more questions about him being on the Cosby Show and if I googled him under it if he would come up. He said he was an extra so he wouldn't show up. Basically, he did not give me time to even do this because it seemed to real to be true. This should have been a red flag as I was kind of catching him on a lie but he proceeded to talk about how it is okay if I didn't believe him but that this doesn't happen often and that he would have taken the opportunity.

We continue to talk and he said how he wanted to hire me on the spot and how he usually does not do this. He said I could make $195/hour on the weekends. He proceeds sounding very realistic on everything. He kept mentioning on how I should trust him but that if I didn't take the offer it would be okay. I thought it was so real and took him up on it. He tells me I have to pay $380 upfront, I told him I couldn't because I had just gotten hired and he actually gave me an option on how much I wanted to give him. I should have said 20 or 40 but he was like how about just give me 80 bucks and I'll cover the rest. I agreed but told him didn't have the money on me. So he tells me to go to an ATM and that he would wait outside as I get the money. He was on the phone I guess still pretending and told the girl to get me tickets for the Lion King Broadway show. He insisted on how he has tons of money and that he will cover me until I could pay him back. Right before giving him the 80 dollars he tells me that if I still didn't trust him I could keep my money and he would go on his merry way. Stupid me told him I trusted him and gave him the money. He placed the paper where I had written my name, email, and phone number on top of the money. He did not even count it and then he gave me a hug and said he would email me in a week, that he was glad I trusted him. Please do not trust this person. He seems very nice and legit but I am very sad that this happened to me.
