Firstly, run by a bunch of foreigners but that seems to be the norm these days.
We have ‘Noah’ and his hardly speaking English rude and ignorant wife? I think? Happy and smiley people and really friendly whilst the money is being talked about but suddenly the ignorance kicks in when you start complaining.
The installation of our bathroom seemed to have gotten off to an uneasy start when I came home from work early and found two Polish? I think workers in my living room, dirty boots on the floor and smoking chatting away and just ignoring me when I tried to ask them what they were doing.
Noah fixed it but was unapologetic, saying I should not have come home early and they would have been cleaned up by the time I got back. Still I was unhappy about the smoking and he just ignored me. I didn’t really want to piss off the people who had my walls open in the bathroom, so I left it.
The next day in the evening when I went to take a shower, I noticed my en suite was starting to smell a little funny, like stale urine. I couldn’t work out why, I flushed the toilet a few times. I figured it must be the new plumbing or something to do with the bathroom being half finished next door. In the morning I asked Noah- a rude mumble that he had no idea, and he wasn’t willing to help, he just kept saying ‘uh huh’ several times whilst I was talking and started making a phone call in some foreign language half way though out conversation and didn’t even want to finish talking to me.
The smell went over the weekend but it was back again Monday. I looked around and noticed there were boot prints in my bathroom; right in front of the sink there was some plaster and some finger prints on the tap. I noticed the smell was coming from the sink then I saw it- splashes of pale yellow liquid round the plughole! I figured immediately that someone had been pissing in my sink!
I called noah straight away (about 8pm) and had a rude ‘what do you want’ not a hello, not anything polite. I said I had a problem and someone of his workers had been pissing in the sink. He went quiet and said ‘no understand what you mean’ which really wound me up because I know he understands english when he wants to (like discussing invoices for example!) I explained to him and he said basically its not possible. He said he was at dinner and just hung up the phone without saying goodbye.
The next day he turned up without any workers and said I looked like I will probably be an ‘funny customer’ and he thought it would be better if he took all the money in advance on top of the already substantial deposit before they finished the work. I said no; that’s not the deal. He said it was either that or he would move off the job.
So I had to hire someone else to finish the bathroom simply because these guys are rude, ignorant and hire second class workers with rough dirty attitudes.
I know they say you get what you pay for, but these guys are pretending to be super professional and instead, they are just another corner cutting, Eastern European hiring company that you can get for 10 pound an hour on any jobcentre corner, obviously without any care about their reputation after all when they have our money and the complaints list becomes too great they can just go home, right?
I hired British builders in the end, should have done it in the first place.
