They had a phrase of "income for life" as an attraction. To receive information, pay $5.00 with my debit card.
I did so, and they sent me an email that they would send me a welcome letter with all the information to access the letter on line. I check my email and read everything everyday and I respond when I'm interested. I never thought anything more about it until about a month and a half later, I have a $92.50 draft from my checking account from Lombardi Publishing Co. I called them to find out the reason for the charge; since they had my account information and I asked how they got my bank acct. #. They told me I hadn't called within a 30 day time frame to cancel. I wanted to know what I was supposed to cancel since I hadn't ordered anything.
They informed me I had ordered a news letter and that was the charge for 6 mos. I informed them that I would never consent to a charge of that amount for any newsletter, and to put the money back into my account. They told me it was over 30 days and they couldn't return the money. I raised a big stink so they agreed to put the money back into my account within 10 days. I told them to put the$5.00 back into the acct. also but they said they couldn't. When I told them they would or I was going to report them to you guys as being scammed.
After deliberation with a supervisor they said they would give the 5 back also.
The time has passed and the money isn't back in the acct. yet, so I called them back today and had to go thru the whole thing again finally got them to put the money back in the bank within 48 hrs. but this other guy I talked to refused to return the $5.00.
It's not about the $5, it's the principle. They dupe you into giving your card # with a low cost (unrefundable) attractive phrase. Then they don't send the second email with the instructions. The next thing you know they are charging you $92.50 which they say they can't refund because it is past the 30 days in which to cancel the order which you never got. BIG SCAM.
On June 22 i subscribed to their stock market research newsletter, which I received about a week later. Upon reading reading the report, I felt that it was poorly researched, their conclusions were vague and...bottom line, didn't agree with most of it.
On July 1, I sent an email to cancel my subscription. Their email reply of July 1 was that I needed to contact them by phone so '...they could verify the authenticity of my request."
On July 23 I called their customer service hot line and told them I wanted to cancel my subscription and get a refund. I was told they would send me an email with several options on switching to other reports. I told the customer rep. that I wanted a refund and replied the same day by email that I wanted a refund of my subscription, period.
On July 24 they sent me an email acknowledging my request for cancellation and a refund. Their reply was: "We will cancel your subscription as requested. A refund will be put into process. Please allow 3-5 business days to see a reflection on your credit card."
Today, August 8, i called my credit card company and there was no refund from Lombardi Publishing Corp. I then put my original payment of $195.00 to Lombardi in dispute, since more than five business days have elapsed and I still do not have a refund.
This is no way for a reputable(?) company to do business and recommend to others to save themselves a lot of aggravation by not doing business with them. PS> I have copies of all of these emails
