On August 11, 2014 I found Jhanira Business Solutions on the internet while looking for information on starting a live scan business. I phoned and spoke with a woman about classes, and signed up for a class that was being given in Oakland, CA on Oct. 3, 2014. I asked her what the cost would be to buy the necessary equipment needed to start the business and was quoted 3,000.00 to 3,500.00. I paid for the class by credit card on that day. A couple of weeks later I spoke with a gentleman from another company that sells the actual machines. In our conversation he told me that I should not take a class from someone that doesn't sell the machines, because I would be wasting my money. He said that when you purchased the machine, the company that you purchased it from would give you indepth instruction on how to use your particular machine. This made a lot of sense to go with the company that your going to buy the machine from, so that you'll be trained on your machine.
After speaking with him on August 29th, I decided that I needed to cancel my scheduled class. I phoned Jhanira Business Solutions to cancel the class, the young lady informed me that I would have to put it in writing and email the request to them and that I was going to be penalized 15% cancellation fee. I explained to her that a cancellation fee was not explained to me on the day that I purchased it and that the calls are recorded, so I'd like to hear the recording that states I was told about such a fee. She told me that she wasn't able to do so.
Today, September 18th, 2014 I'm looking at my credit card statment and I do not see where Jhanira Business Solutions credited my account, so I phoned them again and the man that I spoke with told me that I'd have to email the request to cancel and I would be charged the 15%. I told him that I cancelled it and he told me that I'd have to do it again. I told him that I should not have to pay the 15% and he told me that it was on my invoice. I looked at my invoice and there was nothing stating a 15% fee. He said that it is written in the Registation Policy and that I needed to read it. I went back to check to see if I'd sent an email requesting a cancellation. It was sent out on the 29th of August. I then went to the website to see if it said anywhere that I would be fined 15% for cancelling, and it did have a cancellation fee that reads: Cancellations received by 1:00 pm PST, ten (10) days prior to scheduled event will receive a refund less a 15% cancellation penalty. Cancellations received by 1:00 pm PST, five (5) days prior to scheduled event will receive a refund less a 50% cancellation penalty.
I have called them again after forwarding the original email to them showing that I actually gave them 35 days notice and they are still taking the 15% fee. I now have to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I know that I will receive my money back, but it's the principle of dealing with a company that is giving classes on live scan machine and they are ripping us off. Very bad business.
