I am 78 yrs. of age and live off my social security. My granddaughter was preparing her resume and saw on line this company advertising...."Free Resumes"..later she said that it would only cost 3.95. She went ahead and used the sample given and used my account for the $3.95. I have been billed for 2 months now, and they have taken $ 35.80 plus $.29 for 2 months now. I have asked them to refund this money and there is no phone number, only THEIR email. Therefore, I don't even know if my email is received by them. There was no email number given, just on their network to email them.
There is never any answer from them. There is no address or anything available that I might reach them to ask for my money back. I need all my income to live and this makes this very difficult for me. I truly need my money back. I wish there was some help for me.
Do not use this company's services for "FREE" resume templates. They end up charging you for a monthly subscription. They have this in the fine print. They are another internet scammer!
Apparently I used a resume builder website to tweak my resume at a charge of $1.95. They state that in the multiple page disclosure, it says that after 30 days you will be charged #39.80 every four weeks for thier services. What a joke. I received my April bank statement and it showed a charge of $39.80 on 4/1/15 and a charge of 4/28/15 on 4/29/15. I immediatley called my bank to place a stop on the any additional money coming out. I called Live Career and spoke to them. They explained that I will be charged $39.80 every four weeks since I did not call to cancel. I told them that it is a scam and I demand a refund. The supervisor Jasmin (employee number 6291) claimed that they can only refund one payment of $39.80.
I demanded to be transferred to a manager. Of course no manager was there. I asked them where they are located and she said Manilla Phillipines. I intend to send a letter to their main office in New York and update this on Facebook, Yelp and Twitter to alert others NOT to fall for this scam. It is bad that a company is taking advantage of people looking for a job or career change. People need resume help and this company takes advantage. It is also interesting that they take out the payments every 4 weeks. I think that thier plan is designed to allow two payments to come out in one month to minimize the chances that you will notice the first draft and stop the service. This company is very sneaky
Please tell everyone you know NOT to use this company
This company advertises on the internet and when doing a search for resume writing, is the first result to show. When you sign up, you get 14 days free, then they advertise that after 14 days if you do not cancel, they will charge you $14.95 for their services. After 14 days, they charged me $34.95, not $14.95. When I e-mailed them and then chatted with their online person, they did not offer to refund the difference or even care that I was upset. I advised them that I was going to submit a Rip Off Report and the guy I was chatting with said he would cancel my subscription since I was unhappy with their services.
He sounded like a robot and had no other response.
I paid for the ONE TIME FEE of $4.95 resume builder service from this website a month ago and discovered today that they charged my account for $41. I called the customer service number and while waiting for about 35 minutes, the automated voice said a series of things, one of them being that if you didn't cancel the subscription, your service is automatically updated to the monthly service.
Considering they didn't put this anywhere clearly on the website or service agreement that I could see, I feel that this was a gimmick. Had I known that they would continue to charge me, I would've cancelled the same day I used the service, since I only needed it to help me make the resume which i then saved to my laptop.
When I finally got a person, I explained that I didn't know about the automatic upgrade and would like to cancel the $41 charge. The customer sales rep asked for the email I used to create the account and as soon, as I started to tell her, she hung up in my face. It was not an accident, because it's the same noise it makes when I get off the phone with other CS reps-the sound of the receiver slamming into the console.
This is what pissed me off. If I had been told "Sorry ma'am, you didn't cancel in time, so we can't refund your money." I would have just sucked it up. My fault for not reading the fine print, if there was any. However, they were rude about it. So, I promptly cancelled my account subscription and went back to my account online.
When trying to dispute the charge, I noticed that the charge was "pending" and therefore, not on the dispute page. It was my lucky day. Somewhere out there, my money was floating around not yet in their account but also not in my account either. My card company can easily refund a charge that is still pending, since they technically didn't take the money from me yet. I had done it before with an Amazon order that I cancelled but remained pending in my account for a week.
So, I called my card's customer service line, told them I didn't authorize the charge and got my money back in my account as soon as I got off the phone with the rep! HA!! Next time, deal with your customers a little nicer because the rudeness was what prompted me to find ways around your charges Live Career!!! Also, read the fine print for this website people!!!! I am reading that they get people this way alot. I was just lucky enough to catch it before the charge actually went through and they got my money.
Live Career offered 14-Day Full Access for $1.95 or 7.95 for a month, I created a resume and printed it off and did not access website again. Two months later I find out Ive been billed $34.95 a month for not cancelling my 14-Day trial. I was never contacted regarding the unauthorized use of my credit card. Complete rip-off, I was even charged a $1.00 fee to print the resume one time.
