Listia Inc. Reviews

Listia has some really crazy business practices. Today I found a netbook listed. It was a decent netbook (ebay value $45-$60), but the seller had a whole list of parts that had been removed. It also stated that "all other parts were in good working order". It had an opening bid of 15,000 credits. So, I went ahead and bid the 15 grand. After my bid was locked in, the seller suddenly informs me that the screen needed to be replaced. A quick check of ebay and I found out a screen is about $30. Since the busted screen was not mentioned in the auction listing, I contacted Listia member services to cancel my bid as the other parts replaced and the new screen would cost more than I could buy a complete working netbook for. I was informed that it would be "unfair" to the seller to cancel my bid. Is that crazy or what? I was also "advised" to read the auction listing carefully.. I am seriously wondering if they read MY complaint. I guess it is legal within this site to enter a misleading description for an item, and once someone locks in their bid thats it. I will be using up the credits I have built up and I am just done with this site. It was a nice site about a year ago, but now the auctions are heavily over-priced and you get no support when things like this happen.

This company is horrible!! I have been scammed twice and only been on their site since April 2015.. There is no customer service to report issues but there quick to take your credcredits/money and your own person product you placed up for bid.. Website needs to be banned.. Sadly a lot of people has or have been dealing with same issue..

I had been a member since 2012, my account was verified 5 different ways, I had over 1800 total auctions completed with 100% positive feedback and accumulated over 4 million credits from successful sold auctions. Then one day all of a sudden they start holding back my credits on completed auctions! Which meant that I had to wait for the buyer to say that they got the item or I had to wait for a minimum of 20 days to pass! I submitted repeated requests for help or an answer and I ALWAYS got the same canned answer that said:

"Immediate transfer of credits is a courtesy that we extend to our most Trusted Sellers. At times, even for Trusted Sellers, credits will go into a pending state. This will occur from time to time based on your trusted credit amount, credits being used on the items you are currently bidding on, and your completion rate. It's not due to anything you've done wrong."

Well, since they never gave me an answer and I constantly asked and pushed for one, they banned me from commenting.THEN they banned me from bidding! This website is a joke! Aside from treating their members like garbage, there are 1000's of scammers on that site. Scammers that are allowed to post bogus auctions without any verification whatsoever. All you need is an email address and BOOM, you're a listia seller! How do you know they are scammers? They usually have NO feedback, have recently joined the site, have NO verification (if they do, it's usually a bogus Facebook profile) and have stock or stolen photos of their items (usually high end electronics/phone items). Then to top it off, the IDIOT "mods" almost always post on the following on bogus auctions:

"To make sure you get the most bids and credits from your listings, please add more information about your item. Details such as make, model number, condition, and any known issues will really help you get more credits. This also reduces the number of questions that your bidders have to ask.

For the best possible results, you should also post a clear, close-up picture of the item in your possession. We recommend photos of your item powered on, powered off, and of the back and sides. All of the pictures should be taken on the same background. We also highly recommended writing your Listia username on a piece of paper showing it next to your item. Doing so will help bidders know that you really have the item in your possession.

All of this will prevent your listing from getting flagged. The last thing we want is for your listing to get deleted! Thanks for your cooperation and hope you hit the jackpot with this listing!"

So not only do you have to be weary of the sellers but the mindless "mods" as well. Because of this, I have stopped buying/selling on listia
