These rookies are so lame. I got a letter today with my brothers first name, badly misspelled, our shared last name and my address. Four parking tickets and a red light ticket from 2012 on a car with plates and vin numbers on dates in Chicago. I have never owned or rented or driven a car that matched any of the info, not in Chicago or near on consecutive dates (none of those dates actually, I go up there once every couple of years). I was able to look up the video on the red light run, not my car or plates and the parking tickets don't show up. If these people were legit they would have actual DMV records with real addresses and plate numbers that match owners. SCAM!
This is the second time I have received one of these letters. the first time it said I owed for unpaid tolls and if I didn't pay the balance I would not be able to renew my registration and my license could be suspended so I paid the amount which was around 70.00. Now on Monday I received another letter from the same people saying I owe them 29.06 and that its not a lawsuit but instead there trying to collect a debt. When I went to go to the website listed it popped up as a scam on google.
I received a collection letter that states i used the express lane and the fee is $4.83, sound familiar, but they add a $80 service fee. I contacted Toll roads in my area and found out that they didn't have me on record going through the check point so I called in and explained this to the VERY RUDE lady that answered. She basically told me that the Toll Road don't always capture all of the vehicles that go through the checkpoint and it was their job to review and go after those it doesn't capture (TOTAL BS). Our express Toll way has 2 sherriffs sitting outside the checkpoint almost at all times, 8 flash cameras and you know you went through cuz it's like the paprazzi are waiting around to capture J-Lo or something. So to say the the toll road checkpoints are working, the cops or the cameras is a total scam.
The bad part is even after explaining this I faxed over a statement from the Toll Road customer email address and they still told me I was responsible for the payment. Now they are threating my Drivers License and holding my registration hostage.
There has to be a way to stop these people from just going after people like you and me and hiding behind a collections company that has the ability to harrass, threaten and steal your money.
If anyone knows a way around this please let me know!
I keep receiving letters from Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP stating that I owe for a parking ticket, and a red light camera ticket. The parking ticket was taken care of, I thought, when I contacted the Chicago Police Department and stated that the license plate listed on the ticket could not be mine as I was at work, parked in a Hospital's garage at least 20 miles away at the time the ticket was written.
I sent payment in for the red light camera ticket and thought that settled the ticket. I have a copy of the check that I wrote, but Linebarger Goggan etc. stated that the check was marked insufficient funds and returned to me. This never happened. I have a copy of the check and there is no indication that it was not cashed.
Linebarger Goggan, etc. has a phone number listed on their letters instructing me to call immediately to set up a financial plan to pay off these increasing fees and fines. I have called this number repeatedly and there is NEVER anyone to answer the phone. All I get is an automated voice telling me to hold and then nothing except muzak.
I would like to get this settled, but the only website information listed is an email address to a site that will accept payment via the website. A phone number is also listed for them. I have had no luck in trying to reach anyone.
They are now threatening a) legal action being filed against me, b) garnishment of my wages, c) booting and towing of my vehicle, d) suspension of my driver's license and e) suspension of my business license with the City of Chicago.
I am on social security disability and have multiple major medical problems. I have been unemployed since 1997 and do not expect to be able to return to work ever again. My income is severely limited and most of it goes to high insurance, paying copays to physicians, prescription medications, laboratory work, etc. I do not have enough money to go back into the hospital. It is a very terrifying way to live.
The most insulting issue I have with Linebarger Goggan, etc. is that from day one they have misspelled my name. Both first and last. I went to the State's licensing facility and reported this misspelling of my name and had it corrected immediately. I tried to report this to Linebarger, etc., and sent them a letter to their P.O.Box number. No response.
I am single, have to rely upon myself, and need my car to get to these medical appointments. If my car is booted or my license suspended this would be an extreme hardship. I would explain all of this and set up some sort of payment plan, but I cannot reach anyone. The P.O. Box is for the checks to be sent and is not a building with office space available to this law firm. I have no idea where their offices are.
In the meantime, the $25 parking ticket and the $75 red light camera ticket have accummulated fines and fees not totally $285.48. I don't know how I will manage if I cannot get these increasing fees and fines to stop. Or, better yet, if I can reach an agreement about a payment plan. I need help with this as I am at my wit's end trying to contact them and trying to clear this all up!
Went to a Football Game in Miami (from Sarasota) and went through a Pay by Toll Camera. Done this before with NO... I emphasize NO problems. Received the Toll by Mail and Paid it online through my Bank (Have Receipt for Proof).
Then I start recieving these notices via mail from "Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP" but now I believe they are affiliated with "Dewey Cheat'm & How".
I tried to call their toll free number and no one EVER answers the phone nor does it send you to voicemail (Professional Right?) well I try to get a hold of someone online via website... you guessed it, Nothing!
So I call Florida Dept. of Transportation, they said they don't hire anyone to collect their Debts. So what I'm hoping is they don't effect my Credit Rating which is excellent.
These guys should be reported to the Legal Bar Association and a code of ethics should be part of their continuing education, AFTER the State revokes their operating privileges.
I have been getting notices every month since October, if everyone reading this reports these losers too, then maybe we can have a little faith in our Judicial System.
This firm sayss I owe $1017.00 for tickets from 2008 -2009. I know I don't owe this money because I have gotten he boot 2x since then and I couldn't get my car without paying. Also they reported this to the credit Union.
