I was told when I contracted with the company that there would be 2 weeks of training, and the agent always comes first. Well I received 3 days of training, witch consisted of driving 800 miles, and very little training., Then they told me that they would supply me with there leads at a cost.but they never told me if I did'nt sell any polices on the ones I received that you can not have anymore until you do .They hyped this up so good I quit a 40K a year job and now no leads no-one will answer my calls unless I told them I made a sale. They send out post-cards telling agents how great the company is and they will work with them, but 3 days of training is not teaching anyone,It's push until you get in the door. Great Product, But Lies when it comes to making agents Traning
I was considering going back to school in order increase my finances, instead after contacting Lincoln Heritage I went in for an interview. The interviewer never explained procedures and the cost to perform the selling of insurance policies. The company sent mailers and did television commercials. the returned mailers seeking more information was the leads. The policy or structure was to have agents to order 25 leads per week or encourage you the order that amount as that is what top producers do in order to make the big money. The price of the leads was 25 to 30 dollars each. Thie was not mention at the interview. The focus for a new potential agent was the presentation After three days of training in the field you are sent out on your own. I was given my first 11 or 12 leads by my manager. The leads happen to be in the most undesirable locations for a person of my statue. I tried anyway to do my best. It was no use with the leads. I asked for more thinking that they might be a lot better, I was able to sell 2 policies. This was to much for me I'm a veteran and a senior citizen, I will be 68 years old March 15, 2015. I decided to resign, but the resignation was not acknowledge like I was a slave brought or something. The company tells me that I owe them 843.38 for leads and 334.95 for advances. I don't feel like I owe them anything. I brought uniforms, busines cards, fuel, milage on my car, hours and hours of driving. They only paid me 255.00 I spent that on gas. I felt many times that my life was in danger, there were instances where racial slurs was hurl at me, Like N.....r what are you doing coming knocking on doors in this community. I felt fortunate many times to get back to my car.
Insurance agents BEWARE, stay away for Lincoln Heritage and Funeral Advantage program. In 2011 I was averaging over 8K monthly in business. I contracted with a couple other final expense companies and the regional manager in KY where im at called Lincoln Heritage to terminate my contract with Lincoln Heritage. WOW, just like that your future, commissions, renewals and livelihood is gone, just a phone call.
They make promises they dont keep and have double standards, the managers and many other agents are dual contracted with many insurance companies since we are INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS who are sent a 1099 at the end of the year but somehow they attempt to control you, esp when your LEAD debt and CHARGEBACKS add up and then it seems an agent then has no way out.
I was terminated because I contracted with a "competing" company yet agents all over Kentucky and many other states are contracted with multiple companies. Managers take the commissions and renewals when they terminate agents so as one manager told me " most Lincoln agents dont last long, 4-6 months and write 30-50 policies and then we terminate them or they quit and us managers then have the remaining commissions and renewals ROLLED UP to us" going on to quote this manager...
"thats how ______ , our regional director is making 200K and more per year" ALL I CAN STATE is if you are considering the insurance business or are an existing agent,,, run from Lincoln Heritage and dont make a mistake like I did, I have been in the insurance business over 20 years and should have investigated more before I committed and waisted nearly a year of my career with such an organization.
