I booked with Legacies B&B several weeks before my visit via a booking site. Within 24 hours (considering time difference) and before I'd received ANY invoice I emailed to change my visit from two nights to one due to the massive road trip we were doing we realised we couldn't do two nights. I almost immediately got email from owner saying 'sure i will take you down to one night' a few hours later I got my invoice from same owner which had NO charge applied for changing nights, if it had of done then I'd have cancelled the whole thing.
We stayed for our one night, wasn't impressed for the price, owned by just a husband and wife (couldn't have forgotten this 'charge' really could they??!) they took my card there and then for the balance of the stay, which was the exact balance on my invoice. NO CHARGE taken or applied. Strange huh?
Then a month after my stay I wrote a review, not a great review but not a rubbish review but it pointed out it was overpriced (it was!). I then say a few days later they'd replied to my review clearly not happy and mentioned this 'charge' for the first time and quelle surprise it was applied to my account. They'd scrabbled around to use my card details without telling me, nice and professional huh?!
I emailed and got an incredibly snotty reply back. They then hid behind the fact this charge is on their website (I didn't book through that) and I'd cancelled the one night. Theyd still made $199 out of my visit which is $100 too much in my opinion.
Interestingly the booking place I'd booked through stated 'you may be charged if you cancel' .. does that mean you may depending on how good your review is?! when I challenged this as fraud through my bank the business scrabbled together some fake documents (the 'first' invoice ..the one I never had) and their correspondence was written full of 'she did this, she did that' what a lovely way to describe your customers!
Disgusting company, awful people, overpriced b&b who give beyond disgusting service and who think nothing of using your card details as and when they like without invoicing you or letting you know Stay well clear, find a cheaper much lovelier B&B.
