All this company wants is money money money. They don't take care of their students except when they threaten to leave. When I was introduced to this school, I was in love. Everyone looked so happy, there were state of the art kitchens, everything looked perfect for me to start my career in the culinary industry. I was in the Patisserie and Baking program at this school, and boy did I not realize what I was in for when I started last July.
There were students who absolutely made the rest of us miserable, but nothing was done because those students were prized for whatever reason. The squeaky wheel gets the oil and all that good stuff. This is how my journey began. I was even assaulted twice in one day at this school, once with a pan aimed at my head and next a burner turned on so that when I went to grab one of my pans I was burned. This was swept under the rug by the instructor. These students who were making the lives of everyone miserable actually got a chef FIRED because he said he was discrimintating against this student. Unfortunately for the chef, even though the student decided to take a person day to go furniture shopping, he was also a *************** and this was used against a perfectly fair instructor who was doing his job. This is the first instance of being taken care of only when you threaten to take this precious school's money away.
Next, the breads instructor is a horrible, nasty person who I personally hope goes to hell someday. He thrives on the humiliation of students and won't stop until he ruins at least one person's day. He uses tactics such as public humiliation to "punish" students who he feels are failures. He doesn't allow anyone to explain themselves, he just goes off like he gets off on it. Between incidents like this, and having problems with other instructors, I decided it was time to get out. That's right, ladies and gentlemen, a 4.0, almost perfect attendence student wants to leave this school even though I was doing so well with the actual cooking parts of this school. I email a few people to find out what steps I need to take to get out of this mess of a school, and then I go in to speak with the lead chefs to officially take my name away from this **** hole. I have also been having several family and health issues at this point, so instead of flat out saying, your school sucks, I'm getting the **** out, I basically said, look I need to get out of this situation because of personal problems. Then they bring in financial aid, who threatens me with owing the school $5,000 if I leave now. She says that a girl in my same section of class tried to leave last week and that's what happened to her. They beg me just to stay until the end of the term. I deliberate with my husband and we finally decide, no, it doesn't matter how much we're going to owe, we can take out a loan from the bank, lets just get out of this (yes, we were this desperate at this point). They again say my good name is going to go to collections and I'll never be able to pay for this, blah blah blah. I stuck to my guns, and suddenly they back off. One of the instructors brings my to the registrars office, and the financial aid lady sulks away, saying she'll meet us in her office when the time comes. We get done with the registrar, she takes us to this other lady's office, where she meets us in the hall, says, oh yeah, you owe nothing, rushes off to leave us with one of her confused looking assistants. We get to talking with the assistant, who obviously doesn't know what's going on really, and come to find out, she sent my case to corporate yesterday when I sent an email to the registrar. She had known that I owe absolutely nothing since YESTERDAY. What she was trying to do was scare me into staying for the semester, then when the semester ended scaring me with new false news. I'm so glad that I stuck to my guns and said no, I'm leaving even under the threat of oweing the school a ton of money. Obviously these people are manipulative and only care about your situation when you threaten to take money away from them. As of now I'm officially not obligated to ever see their coniving faces again, and I couldn't be more thrilled. Don't be drawn in by shiny equipment and fake smiles. There are no requirements to get into this school, and it takes a hell of a lot more to get out than in. Don't put yourself through so much debt for heartache.
