The seller at http://www.rubylane.com/shop/lavenderbloom described the earrings ad Victorian, Sterling, Amethyst. I liked them and bought them. I always believed Ruby Lane was an Antique site with good reputation.
When the earrings arrived I found that they were neither Antique nor sterling nor amethyst.
I persuaded the seller to agree to issue a refund, and sent the earrings to her
(I am in US, she is in UK).
The tracking showed the earrings were delivered. When I saked for refund, the seller
claimed she did not receive them.
I waited until I could file a claim with insurance, and the insurance company requested
the recipient (the seller) to sign electronic affidavit stating that she did not receive the package.
The seller answered that she could not fill the affidavit. The insurance sent her a paper.
She dragged her feet, time went by, emails were sent back and forth,
and the seller never filed the affidavit. And now the tracking shows that
the package was not claimed and is on the way back to me.
The Ruby Lane excluded itself out of this, stating that we need to deside the case among us and Insurance.
