Received in the mail today an "Official Declaration of Certified Award and PRovision of Payment". They expect cash, check or money order for $12.99 to claim the prize of $1,140,000.00, or a 30 year annuity of $2,000,000
The "lucky recipient" must send the form back with the name and address of the recipient on it.
I am not elderly, but to an elderly person this would certainly look like a prize award. Multi-colored paper, "Official" all over it, and the big numbers mentioned, over a $1,000,000, would get attention.
To "stop receiving this" they want a letter sent to NextGen, Customer Service, P O Box 7069, Shawnee Mission KS 66207, or by calling 913-338-1823
I was just looking this up, because I just got one of these letters today. (3-17-15) I had entered Publisher's Clearing House, and at first I thought it was from them, but upon closer inspection it said nothing about PCH on it. Plus, why on earth should I have to pay $12.99 or any other money to get money I had supposedly won? ;p
I know I agree I just received the same letter and thank God it looked weird to my husband so I looked up the address and SCAM ran all over the choices I had to look at!!! I mean I really was about to send our money and my husband said 12 dollars don't seem much but if he sent it to a million people then it is!! WOW.... its not fair people can steal from you through the mail with your own stamp.
I got the same letter which I thought was weird at first because I had been entering sweepstakes on PHC and it didn't have any affiliation with them. Also why would they need a processing fee if they are giving away that much money. Other than that it did look like someone took time to make it look legit-ish, but any mild internet search shows that it is a scam. I'm surprised that this many people complained and Larry Hourd--or whoever--isn't in jail for fraud by now. Clearly our justice system is flawed in this sense.
It states no purchase needed...so I wrote that on the payment stub, I made copies of what I did I'm really thinking of pushing this thur my local offices in the court house. I live in a small town with older people who may fall for this, and the people that work in the court house are sons and daughters of the older people that live here.... maybe they will care enough to do something..
Well first I wamt to say they did not get the chance to burn me. I have past dealings with thimgs like this
so I desided to look it up first and as i thought to good to be true . Yes Larr Hourd on behalf of the
award notification commissions organization have sent me a certified award of official declaration and provision of payment of1.230,946.00 for the low cost of a fee of 12.99 sent to them.

Pretty much the same story as everyone else. Got a letter in the mail saying that return service was requested and that I had won $2,000,000.00. I was so excited that I went ahead and wrote a check for the "Premium Offer".
HA! It was a good thing that I did 30 seconds of research on the internet before I sent it off. Thanks to this website and a video from bbb.org/lexington/video/scams/dont-fall-for-it-award-notification-commission-sweepstakes-scam.
Mom got the letter and thought she won today 8-31-15
My mom called me today from Florida and exclaimed "I won it" the Publishers Clearing House thing I entered. I immediately started checking on the web. I found this web site by looking up the name that was the "AWARD" person's name and found this. I am having my brother go read it because she says I am in Michigan and she is in Florida so I can't read it. I am also calling 913 338-1823 which is the phone number for NexGen Customer Service for these complaints. They are in Kansas but are tracking this scam and trying to stop it. Please everyone call in!!!! My mom is in her 80's so she was going to collect until I burst her bubble. I felt bad telling her she really didn't win but I had to she needs her money.
Well he got me on it,just sended 13.00 today,oh well will not happen again to me,hope he enjoys his day when it's his time to go in life karma will take care of him!!:)
Just got the same letter as everyone else in the mail today too. It says Larry Hourd is the Excecutor of Awards. Please do not fall for this scam. What I found very interesting is that when reading all the other comments previously posted, MANY of the people (including myself) take part in Publishers Clearing House (PCH). Does anyone also find it suspicious that we are all getting these scam letters??? Is someone in the company (PCH) stealing our contact info??? Think of it like this, we all take part in PCH because we obviously want to win money. "Larry Hourd" knows this and decides to make some money for himself on the side. He (or she or they) steal our contact information and send out fake winning letters hoping someone gullible and desperate falls for it. It may sound far-fetched, but I think it is VERY suspicious that so many of us also do PCH!!!
Same story here. Got my letter here in Wash. state 4-30-15 and for 30 seconds I was in a daydream.Official stamps, boxes with numbers with the Judges "FINAL" decision and even the verified I.D.#. YEAHHHHHHHHHHH.....but wait ;this is not Publishers Clearing House!!!! SCAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMM. I truly thank these internet sites for being there but how many elderly grandmas and grandpas is this crook stealing from? We got to be able to get him.
Im so THANKFUL for all the post that I read. You saved me 12.99. I just received my letter today. I was excited but cautious. In my heart I was saying, if I won why do I have to send 12.99. I headed right to the computer to look this person up. In big letters, SCAM. THANK YOU ,THANK YOU, MY PRAYER IS THAT THIS PERSON IS STOPPED.

Glad I knew to check the Internet
My question is why hasn't the US postal service gone after the sender of this scam.
