I took my CRV Honda in for repair to KWIK KAR LUBE & TUNE (Flower Mound, TX) because the light on the “D” indicating my car was in drive, repeatedly blinked off and on. The owners Manuel indicated a possible problem with the transmission and that it needed to be checked by a service technician.
I explained the problem to the Service Manager (John) and he said, “We will call you with an estimate and get you fixed-up.”
Approximately 10 minutes later he called me and said I had several “maintenance items that need to be taken care of”. I said I am not interested in any other service except the repair of the blinking light and I ask him what the estimate was. He said he would need to get back to me.
He called me back in about 20 minutes and I ask him what was wrong how much would it be. He said, “I send all the transmission work out, but it looks like you may need a solenoid on your transmission.” I said how much will that cost and can you get it to the transmission people and back today? He said the service should be less than $200.00 and he would have no problems getting it back to me today. I said go ahead and change the oil and filter also. He said it looked like my serpentine belt was very bad and needed changed. I said, if it looks bad go ahead and change it. I said, “How much will the total cost be?” He said under $400.00.
John called me approximately two hours later and left a message saying, “Hay Mr. Dixon we got your car ready if you want to swing by and grab it.”
I called back to get a total cost and I asked the person answering the telephone what the total cost was going to be, he said he would total it up if I would hold the line just a minute. I was placed on hold for 10 minutes and no one got back on the telephone line. I thought they were just busy so I would go ahead and pick my car up.
When I arrived I said, Was it a solenoid? The person said, “Here is a card for Lewisville Transmission where you can take your car. We do not work on transmissions!” I said why didn’t you tell me that when I first dropped my car off or when we spoke on the telephone?” He said, “You must have misunderstood me. We do not work on transmissions. We recommend Lewisville Transmission.
