My friend and I decided to try to purchase a beginner's trail horse this past summer from Kris Smith due to his guarantee of horse replacement if they dont work out. We purchased the first horse for $2400, seemed good at his place; became a bucking bronco at our place and threw my friend. He offered to replace this horse with another horse and sent it with his shipper at half price. This horse damaged every surface it could by cribbing and pulling back. Marked up my fence, damaged my feeders, etc. Also had to chase it into a stall to catch it and it was very small- only about 14.3HH (We wanted something at least 15.1H as we are larger women). Wouldn't send the shipper for this horse, so we chased him down, loaded him up and took him the 4.5 hours ride back. The only horses he had at this point were a reg. QH Mare and a very lame grade gelding. The mare seemed forward, but nice looking- and she was upcharged to $3400- as she was registered and had all her shots and Coggins. We felt kind of limited in our options, so we bought the forward mare with the assurance that she would settle down. Well, we never received any papers even after numerous communications with Kris- so repeating the shots and Coggins wasn't our big concern. We now have a very forward, spooky, not beginner horse with no registration papers as he refuses to provide them. Buyer beware...... Most horse dont have any Coggins or shots, many have conformation defects and he doesn't know what they truly are like. Still awaiting our registration papers..... since we bought her in July 2014. Have no intent to go back there for a replacement, but feel that we were taken advantage of.
Bought a horse on horsebid from Kris Smith last week.. Got the horse, not an 11 yr old -- closer to 25 yr old, horse is
not handy, doesn't turn as a true neck reining horse, has no knowledge of side passing, etc.. Feet, came here forging, and back leg knuckles over when on hills.. Truly not a horse that I thought I was buying per his listing. Call Kris, told him
I wanted a refund as the horse isn't what he listed it as -- No refund, will trade for another horse, etc.. Told him I'll contact my atty. He is very willing to trade for another horse -- but I DO NOT TRUST HIM.. Why do we have to work with someone like this that is truly a CROOK..
How can we shut this man down?? I have since heard 5 other horse stories like mine about Kris Smith..
