All the other reports on here about Knight Transportation are very believable now that I too havegone through some of the horror. Right now, as I write this I am sitting in my truck with Knight Transportation in Kankakee IL because they will not give me a load to go on home time since I refused a load the night before because I had ran out of hours from just finishing another load, which by the way only made it on time because I had to use my sleeper berth at shipper the night before while waiting five and a half hours to get loaded.
I had already been working with recap hours to get the load from Kansas to Illinois and they were wanting me to pick up that night an hour in a alf away after driving all day to deliver the next day to the yard in Kansas and then pick up another one in Kansas to take to OKlahoma. I only had two more days of 11 before I would have to do a 34 and there was no way I would be able to do both loads legally if I ran into another isssue with sitting at the shippers unless I cheated. When I rejected loads and gave them a reason of hours plus I also did not feel safe driving in Chicago because of the area I would be in and be alone, I got a message the next morning asking if I had pcked up the load last night after I had already sent in that I rejected the load and the reasons.
After sending messaes back and forth and asking for another load, I have come to find that they lie about not being forced dispatch and that they will try to force you into driving illegal and in unsafe areas and if you do not they will make you sit. This is a Sunday and it was the first weekend since I started March 16th 2015 that I was supposed to have gotten home time yet here I sit alone 804 miles away from home.
The sad thing about Trucking Companies is they know they can treat you anyway they want because no one is on the drivers side. Unless and until everyone starts standing up to these push overs then nothing will change, we will still have driverse cheating and driving sleepy, driverse parking in unsafe areas getting killed because they have nowhere to park and companies stealing drivers pay because tey can and drivers barely making a living.
They lied on my Dac report said I was fired and broke company policy.Always an excuse when it came to taking time off.Tampered with my hours of service,gave me what I called "magic hours" long after my hrs to drive were gone.
I could never get through by phone or QC in any kind of timely manner,wether it was to locate an mty trailer,get directions or give info on eta.
I was told I could change terminals because of the issues I was having with the manager and dm at PA terminal.Once I turned in my truck in PA and quit,NC terminal wouldnt return any calls after they told me I could change to NC with no problem.
They also have a sliding pay scale that never added up to the miles actually driven.Detention pay,layover pays and any extras that should have been paid I always had to argue over and/or never got.
