I purchased a new kitchenaid , high end frig in March 2013. The frist frig start experiencing cooling problems at about month 7. 3months of repairs, appointments and phone call after phone call. KA finally agreed to replace the frig with same model..
Frig #2: its also started having cooling problems started @ month 11. Right before the 1 year warranty was up I reported issues to KA. We are now at month 2 on trying to fix the second frig with no luck. Cooling temps for the last month have been above 50 degrees. That is not a safe temp for foods that should be kept cool. That has made for a lot of waste of food and chances for unsafe unhealthy items from frig...currently the only servicer they have in my area is booked 3 weeks out. The last servicer ( appointments #1-#5 on frig #2) declined to service my frig for appt #6 any longer and refused to service my area under Kitchenaid.
I have had more than 20 scheduled appointments.. Five of those were no shows. Countless phone calls with customer care. The frustration level for me has been off the chart. ive had reps call me to tell me that I needed to find my own servicer and fix the problem my self it wasn't theor concern. The worst customer care experience I have had with a company.
I am beyond frustrated and very disappointed with the workmanship and the quality of your products. If I had any idea that the quality was so poor I would have never bought units with a life expectancy of 5 years or less, unfortunately I have had 2 units and they did not last. Since 2011 I have spent $1700 on Kitchen Aid Microwaves and that does not include the numerous repairs and additional $400 on repairs. Last night we had to pull out a 10 year old GE counter microwave that has been sitting in the attic and was purchased for my daughter when she went off to college and only cost $125 and guess what it worked perfectly, while my high-dollar Kitchen Aid appliances are failing.
In 2006 I purchased the following kitchen aid major appliances from Sears:
KitchenAID Electric Cooktop - Sears Item #02223363000 Mfr model# KECC508RPS
KitchenAid Electric Single Oven - Sears Item#02228453000 Mfr. Model# KEBC107KSS
KitchenAid Refrigerator - Model#KSCS25FSS GREAT INDOORs Model # 046 2703 25
May 2011 - First item to fail was the KitchenAid Microwave (Mfr. Model# KHHS179LSS) in 2010 the handle fell off and had to be replaced at my expense. In 2011; the microwave stopped working. Microwave was 5 years old convection features had never been used. A&E Factory repair recommended after the service call at my expense that it would be cheaper to purchase a new unit. The cost to fix the existing unit was going to be higher than buying a new unit and repairs were only guaranteed for a limited time. Microwave cost well over $1500.
May 2011 – Kitchen Aid: KHMS2050S was told by the sales person that if I chose another vendor such as GE; the stainless steel would not match the rest of appliances in my kitchen. Reluctantly, I purchased another Kitchen Aid appliance.
June 2013 - Kitchen Aid: KHMS2050S stopped working because support piece on the unit was defective and broke. Again told by Kitchen Aid customer service that the unit was out of warranty and that repair would be at my expense. I even sent in pictures to the Kitchen Aid Customer Service team, who responded that they could not determine if the unit was defective. AE Factory repair came and said the unit was defective. The unit was repaired at my expense.
April 2013 - KitchenAid Refrigerator - Model#KSCS25FSS – Motor on the ice make failed and had to be replaced. I have a 20 year old GE refrigerator that has only required one repair in 20 years and cost $900 when purchased.
April 2014 - KitchenAid Electric Single Oven – Use the self-cleaning mode on the oven and the oven will no longer heat up. Control Panel had the following error codes: F5, E5. Per the instructions on the web I tried resetting the power; oven still does not work. Sears/AE factory repairman has estimated $300 $500 repair. Further research on this issue is that it is COMMON in all Kitchen AID / Whirlpool Ovens. Numerous customers had this issue as documented all over the internet. The issue will keep occurring if you use the self-cleaning feature once repaired. Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid will not acknowledge that is a known issue and will not repair or replace the oven.
July 2014 – Kitchen Aid: KHMS2050S no longer will heat or cook food. The unit appears to be working normally but food does not re-heat.
It is really sad that when talking to repair technician to confirm the time frame of my appointment; when I stated the issue it appeared to a very common and known issue.
I spent over 20k on these appliances. To pay over 2k for oven that you cannot use the self-cleaning function because the unit will overheat and cause major internal issues is a serious quality defect; in addition this is also a safety issue. The fact that this company refuses to acknowledge, address or fix the issues is really concerning. I will continue to blast Kitchen Aid appliances on every social media, blog that I can find. I really disappointed in the quality of the products and that your company will not stand behind this obvious product defect. It is really shame that I am looking to replace these items.
We bought this refrigerator in feb. of 2013, in Nov. of 2013 it quit working. We called whirlpool for service, they came out and replaced parts 6 different times and didn't get it working until the begining of Feb. We ask numerous times to replace the refrigerator but were told they had to try to fix before replacing.
The refrigerator worked for about 4 weeks than the freezer quit working. Then we had to deal with the extended warrenty. It took 2 weeks and 3 trips here before they got it working again.
About 2 weeks later the ice maker started leaking water. they replaced the ice maker and said we would have ice by that night. no ice. Since then they have been back 6 times and it is still not working. They came back this week looked at it again, did nothing and said they would be back in 3 weeks to fix it.
After paying $3000.00 for a refrigerator you would think they would replace it after this many attemps to fix it. 8 month is more than enough time to fix it
