My grandson had a most popular, but, unfortunately, limited edition of a three wheeler I purchased a year and one-half ago. His enjoyment of that toy resulted in his literally wearing it out. Recalling how much his father enjoyed a "Big Wheel," I went on a birthday gift search stupidly believing the product would meet the same expectations. Taking into consideration his age, weight and beieving the product would still be the same, I purchased it at Target.
While reviews were quite mixed, I still decided to give it a go. Wrong, wrong and more wrong. Unfortunately, he discovered the box in the trunk of my car while loading market purchases. No going back. I have worked professionally in the plastics industry and manufacturing for years. I know quality control and I know calibration. I am also ISO audited and certified.
The handle bars were not aligned. Took a hand drill and measurement to make it work. Other issues occurred, but the blowing moment after three people, one of whom was his quite skilled grandfather, came to the discovery a pedal was missing...quite enough. Was at Target at opening, literally 3 hours before his birthday party. To say the customer service representative was most cooperative, is an understatement. Something tells me this is not their first rodeo with this item. Even asked me to return it, put together. Declined the gracious offer as not to dissapoint my grandson on his birthday.
Point being, do not purchase this item. My next complaint will be to the maker of this garbage. They are riding (no pun intended) on the past reputation of a long, loved item, enjoyed by multiple generations , and not worthy of being made in the USA. Exactly why I have not purchased a car made in the States in 30 years. Learned my lesson in automotive manufacturing; now in freaking toys. Would have never thought that!
