We purchased a 2015 Keystone Laredo 278SRL four months ago. The worst mistake we ever made. The quality is horrible and Keystone should be embarrassed as well as the dealer who sold it to us.
The cabinet door hinges are coming out on numerous cabinets, leaving them hanging crooked and have to actually lift them up to close properly and has also ruined the cheap covering on the cabinet where the screws are pulling out, part of our carpet edge is fraying, carpet tacks coming out of the floor, wallpaper peeling off around all the nail holes, warped in other areas, bathroom counter trim piece separated, dinette cushion is a lumpy mess, and has a huge visible fabric flaw, dent in wood in back of dinette facing the couch so very visible, several cabinet door are dinged and have rough marred areas (defective pieces of wood), structure nails are poking through the wallpaper in all rooms, bedroom ceiling trim piece has corner piece chipped off, water control center outside was broke in several places flooding our outside compartments, shower head cracked, kitchen faucet cracked, electrical outlet cover under sink falling off, outside light strip along awning falling off, ripple in gel coat on side of RV, rusted screws on power connector outlet, 1 inch round ding just down from the roof line is rusted, transition strip between carpet and floor is coming loose, lost both bumper end caps (I was following DH when they flew off about 20 minutes apart and hit my car) and there is a random screw hole in the wall next to the kitchen slide.
Design wise the refrigerator door opens into the entertainment center cabinet and the freezer door slams into the TV. We were told by Keystone, nothing they can do, there are no door stops available. I have to hold the door with one hand while removing stuff with the other.
The recliners are too big for the space they are in and hit the plastic curtain retaining clips when using no matter how careful you are, so they have broken off and are dangling, will need to be removed as they will just continue to be broken. Turning the chair sideways to strap in for travel and getting them out is a wrestling match that takes two of us and the slide out walls have scraped the leather of chairs due to the tight squeeze.
I’m sure I’m forgetting things and I’m sure I’ll discover more manufacturing defects as time goes on. We have it at the dealer again for warranty fixes, but I’m not real excited about having a pieced together rebuilt RV.
If it isn’t satisfactory at the end of the 1 year warranty period we will cut our losses and take a hit and dump it. I’m not going to spend every camping trip with a sick stomach like I have so far this year.
Had problems from the start with the camper. No water pressure, missing trim, interior walls move and leave sawdust all over the floor. Customer service is terrible waiting 7 weeks for parts which have been sent incorrectly twice and waiting on the third time
To begin i would like to introduce myself, my name is Brian. My wife and I purchased a Brand NEW Keystone Carbon 327 Toy hauler from Mike Thompsons RV in Fountain Valley and took delivery of the unit on July 1, 2014 for a planned three week vacation to Utah, Wyoming, Northern Sierra's and then home. Unfortunately, our trip was cut short by 9 days when we discovered a MAJOR Manufacturer Defect in the roof covering beginning at the attachment point where the front fiberglass cap meets the roof, underneath the rubber seal. The rubber seal itself was completely cracked, and the rubber roof began to peel back. It had rained the night before and it was evident that water had leaked through when it touched the exposed wood.
In addition to the rubber seal at the front cap being cracked, it was also evident that the rubber sealant used at each of the front vents was compromised as they were beginning to peel back off of the roof, making it obvious to not just me, but to the dealership that I took it to later, that the rubber sealant used during the manufacturing process was defective. The rubber roof had also begun to separate from the wooden roof due to the exposed air pockets that had developed during transit.
While on our retreat back home to address these problems, we were flagged by a very concerned truck driver who informed us that our roof was ripped and was flapping everywhere. Upon this notification, I immediately pulled over to discover that the front 1/3 of the roofing material had been ripped and air pockets had developed under the entire right side of the fifth wheel as well as some parts on the left.
To me, being a professional driver of Firefighting Apparatus', this addresses a VERY concerning issue of public safety while commuting on roadways and highways. Thankfully, we were notified soon enough to make the necessary modifications to secure the roof and nurse it home, and no one was hurt. My wife and I are reasonable people and understand that small problems do occur with these trailers. It's sad, but if you research the industry enough, you will read story after story of other peoples issues with their RV's and come to expect that it will happen to you too. With that being said, I believe that my particular case is very different; I believe that this is a major manufacturer defect that needs to be reported to expose Keystone for there negligence during Quality control. Furthermore, in addition to the roof, we found some additional, concerning issues with the coach itself which makes me question the craftsmanship of the manufacturer.
Here is a list of the items we have comprised thus far on our 12 DAY OLD Fifth Wheel: 1. While taking my very first shower in the trailer, I discovered measurable cracks in two places in the shower pan. It was not there when we had done the final walk through which means it happen during transit.-(Shower pan cannot be replaced just patched!!) 2. The kitchen cabinet, to the right of the stove, had rattled open during transit and was lying on the ground when we arrived at our first destination. The screws had literally come unscrewed and stripped out of the wood causing damage to the cabinet face and the cabinet. 3. Upon pulling the large garage screen down, again, for the very first time being used, it was evident that it had come undone and was not seated properly within the guides. 4. While opening the rear garage door upon arriving at our first destination, the strut at the bottom of the door fell completely out of the door, allowing the door to swing freely into the side of the trailer. 5. While in transit, parts from the interior front piece of the awning bracket fell out. 6. The water pump runs continuously, does not stop once prime is obtained, concerning me that water is being pumped somewhere? 7. Several other small fit and finish repairs like scratches, stains in the carpet were also noted. I have attached photos that document these issues mentioned above. My fear is, based on the events of two weeks we had the trailer in our possession, that the 5th wheel we purchased will continue to have issues due to the poor manufacturing evidenced thus far.
In closing, I cannot express to you enough how deeply saddened and overwhelmed my wife and I are at these troubling findings. This has been a dream of ours to finally purchase a fifth wheel to share the experiences of the outdoors that we grew up enjoying as children with our own family. I have spent the last 2 years researching different companies, manufacturers and talked with several of your competitors only to come to KEYSTONE to make this large purchase. I had literally only owned the trailer for 2 weeks as of the day we dropped it off at the dealer for repairs and I am now faced with a huge dilemma...what to do now? I have already began making payments and I still do not even have the ability to use the trailer nor do I have a definitive date on when I will have it back. I have made several attempts to contact Keystone with no avail so i am left with no other alternative but to expose them on a national level and contact a lawyer at this point. Please don't make the almost $60k MISTAKE that i made, buy somewhere else.
I purchased an Alpine 2001 5th wheel travel trailor on March 15, 2012 NEW. Since my purchase I have had mulitple issues with this unit.
I tried contacting the Dealer on several occasion and they would refer me to other keystone dealers in my area, ( where I was located at the time travelng ) upon contacting them they would refer me to someone eles because they couldnt get to my unit in a timely matter.
I had the repairs done and sent the information to my dealer that i purchased the unit from and they never submitted any informaton to Keystone so they have no record of my issues. As of March the 15, 2014 I have repaired, replaced or fixed the following: (that I could)
toilet replaced
Black water tank replaced
water heater repaired
hydraulic jacks leaking
blow out tires replaced 4 new ones
dryer belt broke
microwaave door doesnt seal
cabinets wood color is fading
weak roof (they checked and said it was fine) rubber comming loose and saging
all water fittings were hand tight leaks everywere
