Well the time came that myself and my wife were looking do get a bit of work done. Nothing difficult, nothing out of line, but manual labor that would be tedious. New egress window wells, our old ones had rusted through. My wife found a contractor, Kelli SantaCruz, that said she'd come over and take a look at things, give an estimate and see what her thoughts were.
Kelli made her way over on August 5th, took a look, and said the wells needed to be changed and she'd charge us 1200 dollars. No problem, since that was the best price we'd been quoted we paid half up front, 600, with the job sup to start on August 27th. That date came and passed without as much as a word from Kelli as to where she was, what the status of the materials was, and when she would get to it.
Granted we did have a wetter summer here in the Denver area, however two months came and went without a sign of Kelli or her crew to come work on the windows. First it was sickness, then she was out of town, then she was working on a $5mm dollar house, then it was too wet, then she was sick again, and then her crew couldn't make it because they were painting 5 houses. We began to see the excuses recycled over and over, and never saw Kelli come by or do anything.
My wife and I reached our breaking point and finally told her that if she didn't show up and do the job by the next friday we would need a refund of our assets. That was on Sept 26th, imediately Kelli canceled the contract saying that we were too demanding and accusing her of things, etc. At that point she stated that the folling week once she got a "refund" on materials that we never even recieved she would send our money back.
Then she stopped responding to requests as to when the funds would be reimbursed back to us, became very combative towards my wife, hung up when questioned about these funds, and cursed me out through text message. This cycle has continued for the last three weeks with no sign of our money and Kelli continually stating that she will send it next week.
The ironic thing behind all this is I wanted to give this individual the benefit of the doubt. There was another business name that this person functioned under, Dedicated Home Improvment, where I had read bad reviews. When I asked Kelli about this, she stated the same circumstances every time.....the home owner was unruley to work with, demanded the work get done too quickly, weather was a factor, and they were rude to her.
After working with Kelli SantaCruz I would say that there is a pattern that has shown itself to be true. This person has no business acumen, has proved they cannot stay on a schedule, does not own a calendar, and is poor about communication. PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE THE LIES THAT SHE IS WILLING TO TELL! After further search of the business owner I also discovered some very unscrupulous items via email. BEWARE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
